Mrs Cudworth September 2024
This is such a lovely cottage in the small cove village of Porthallow. It has everything you need and it is such an attractive cottage in white and pale blue. We loved it. Although the cottage has no sea view you only need to walk round the corner to the beach. We loved being so near the sea and had many walks with our dog to the (pebble) beach at different times of the day. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard and the owner, presumably, has put time thought and money into this property and provided high quality furnishings, artwork, crockery, bedding, towels, books, games etc. - there is even a picnic hamper and plastic plates and glasses for guests to use. The kitchen is very well equipped and easily kept clean - loved the cuckoo clock which didn't cuckoo on the hour but sang a soft birdsong instead. The entrance porch is a brilliant addition and keeps shoes, coats (and wet dog) out of the kitchen. There is a comfortable sitting room which we didn't use much (having enough space and comfort in the kitchen at the dining table) although we all thought it would be great in colder weather because it would be so snug and warm. Bedrooms have very comfortable beds and plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. There is an upstairs toilet which is handy as the main bathroom is downstairs. There is a two seater table and chairs on a small patio in front of the door and a few yards up the road and across from the house there's a super private garden with garden furniture - a good place to have meals outside weather permitting. Could really keep going on about how we loved this cottage and its amenities but it's truly a great place and we hope to stay there again. If you go, enjoy the hair raising adventure of very very narrow and twisting Cornish roads and frequent encounters with other cars and tractors and be sure to book a visit to the Fat Apples café for good food. An all round great stay in a fabulous property. ...
