Bedroom 4 has a truckle bed, with fully sprung 3ft mattresses, one tucked beneath the other. The room can easily be set up as a twin bedroom if you wish.
The stairs are beautifully restored and quite narrow.

The garden faces south west and has great views across Branscombe Vale. Please supervise small children as there is a sunken fence (a ha-ha) at the side of the lawn, just before the hedge.

A 15 minute walk through National Trust land will take you to Branscombe's shingle beach.
The award-winning Sea Shanty Beach cafe at Branscombe beach serves delicious locally caught seafood.
Jacob's Ladder at nearby Sidmouth.
Nearby Beer is charming and still an active fishing village, the wet fish shop on the beach sells the catch of the day, ideal for the barbecue.
Lyme Regis has some great restaurants, cafes and independent shops as well as a safe, sandy beach with SUP and kayak hire in the summer.
River Cottage HQ is a short drive from Barnell Cottage, if you feel like booking in for a cookery course or a delicious meal.

Was peaceful & exceptionally quiet but close enough to a good pub & only 10/15 minutes from either Seaton or Sidmouth. Lovely local walks, comfy beds & great views. Greeted with fresh flowers and biscuits, we had a wonderful stay to celebrate a 50th birthday with family. Barnell Cottage is a beautiful, warm and spacious house which was comfortable for all the family young and old. Great views and lovely walks with a dog friendly beach and pub nearby. From Branscombe Beach, climb the hill and walk to Beer, buy freshly caught fresh - the highlight of the weekend. Thank you for a perfect relaxing weekend in your lovely cottage....

It is desperately sad that this beautiful property is so very poorly maintained. So much potential thrown away because some individual can't clean or repair the faults, some of which are plainly quite dangerous. Currently feeling stolen from, here..... However, the area is a wonderland of hostelries, walks, scenery and with so much to do and see, you'll not want to go home. We didn't. I couldn't have, in all honesty made a comment in the visitors book to either effect. Whereas the area and house have some lovely aspects and the pub and beach were brilliant, the neglected state of the property was heading towards the deplorable end of the dictionary and we feel somewhat cheated. The experience and condition of the property along with the rain didn't dappen our spirits or indeed spoil the holiday, but it could have, and as we paid for, should have been so, so much better....

Beautifully appointed cottage in an idyllic location. Being able to walk to Branscombe Beach along a beautiful coastal path was a real bonus.
