Set in a pretty cobbled courtyard, Poachers Cottage is a delight.
John's Deli has shops and cafes in both Appledore and Instow. There are also some excellent pubs and little galleries to browse in.
The local pub is just down the road.
Across the estuary, reached by a lovely seasonal passenger ferry, is Instow, where there are wide sandy beaches at low and high tide.
A few hundred yards away you can stroll down the slipway at low tide for a sandy stretch of beach for your four-legged friend and children to enjoy.
Appledore is a traditional old fishing village with a wonderful network of little lanes and passageways to explore.
Catch the ferry from Bideford quay for a day out to Lundy Island.
North Devon's beaches are as good as any in Cornwall for surfing! Endless stretches of golden sand and rolling waves. This is Saunton Sands.
Charming Clovelly is a short car journey away.
Clovelly is a photographer's dream.

A wonderful and welcoming cottage in a picturesque seaside village. Complete with all the modern conveniences (coffee maker, streaming services, dishwasher) and a short walk from the river and amenities in the village. It is a lovely cottage central to everything in beautiful Appledore and all it dog friendly restaurants and pubs and shops. It was great being 1 minute from seeing the river in the morning. We got a parking permit for the car park at the back of the cottage and always got a space. The stairs are very very steep. I only given 4 stars because of the stairs....

A stunning cottage which was warm and comfortable. Dont let the lack parking put you off , it was never a problem with a car park just 2 min walk or a larger one 5 min walk along the quayside. We loved our stay
