Set in a pretty cobbled courtyard, Poachers Cottage is a delight.
John's Deli has shops and cafes in both Appledore and Instow. There are also some excellent pubs and little galleries to browse in.
The local pub is just down the road.
Across the estuary, reached by a lovely seasonal passenger ferry, is Instow, where there are wide sandy beaches at low and high tide.
A few hundred yards away you can stroll down the slipway at low tide for a sandy stretch of beach for your four-legged friend and children to enjoy.
Appledore is a traditional old fishing village with a wonderful network of little lanes and passageways to explore.
Catch the ferry from Bideford quay for a day out to Lundy Island.
North Devon's beaches are as good as any in Cornwall for surfing! Endless stretches of golden sand and rolling waves. This is Saunton Sands.
Charming Clovelly is a short car journey away.
Clovelly is a photographer's dream.

Very good location. Right by the Royal George and a stones throw from theBeaver Inn. Beware the tourist pass, it starts at 8am on the first day you book and will expire at 6pm on the day before your departure. You therefore either need to start it the day after your arrival and pay for a ticket for the time you arrive to 6pm that day or decide to leave before 8am on your final day or pay for a ticket between 8am and your departure time. It’s a comfortable cottage and well equipped....

Poachers Cottage is in a superb location and is a home from home. There are lovely walks right from the door and there are plenty of great places to eat as well. It’s comfortable and well equipped, can’t really recommend it highly enough.

A charming cottage in an lovely part of Appledore. Very clean and well-equipped. The stairs are very steep and narrow but this was not a problem for us.
