Nearby pub

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A quaint village pub that's been done up for the 21st century with a bar and family-style restaurant. The locals love it for the Sunday Carvery and regular food nights. Visitors love that it caters for little ones and has a beer garden.

Friendly and welcoming

Very friendly and welcoming landlady behind the bar. Plenty of outdoor seating though the beer garden does feel a bit neglected. Very good selection of food, and excellent prices and quality. Would definitely return!

Dissapointed

Very friendly pub with extensive menu and delicious food, but dissapointed that the pub was closed some early evenings.

Nearby beach

Situated at the northern end of Millook beach this beach can only be accessed at low tide. It comprises of shingle and stone and is good for experinced surfers when conditions allow. There are some good rockpools at low tide. Care should be taken as there are strong currents. Limited roadside parking is available nearby or alternatively try Penhalf Cliff on the Wanson Mouth side of Millbook, 800m away.

Nearby walk

This five mile walk follows fields and country lanes from Lifton to Launceston. It should take you about two hours to walk and you can park on Fore Street, Lifton, where the walk starts. Click the Visit Dartmoor website link for further details.

Nearby town

Almost nudging the border of Cornwall, Lifton lies in the folds of the hilly Devon countryside. Despite the fact that Lifton is a small village, it has two major attractions to boast. The first, The Fairground Heritage Centre, is a magical exploration of the history of fairground rides and includes some mesmerizing examples of steam-driven carousels. Holding an entirely different appeal is the nearby Roadford Lake; 730 acres of water draws anglers, watersports enthusiasts, ramblers and cyclists throughout the year.

Wonderful rainy day fun

The best collection of old, working fairground rides anywhere, all under cover. Entry fee lasts all year. I would highly recommend the Dodgems!

Straight out of Thomas the Tank Engine, this is a fun-filled excursion whatever the weather. Learn about the little locomotives, or just sit back and enjoy ride.

A quirky little train journey! We were glamping at Western Meadows (near New Mill Farm Park) and caught the quaint little steam train from the Farm Park into the town of Launceston for a look around. The children loved the 2 mile journey through countryside, it really did feel like we were stepping back in time.

Spend an afternoon plucking plump, juicy strawberries in the fields, then try to resist the aroma of freshly baked bread and hot pies luring you into the Barn farmhouse restaurant. If you want to stock up on West Country produce, the farm shop is bursting at the seams with local goodies.

Amazing pies and cakes!

A wonderful farm shop that may be a bit pricey for some things but the pies and cakes are amazing with the cakes are very reasonably priced. The scotch eggs are great too!

A Farm Shop with a difference.

Whether you want coffee and cake, a full blown roast lunch, a Cornish pasty or Saffron buns - this is the place - the cafe is open every day (you will need to get there early for Sunday lunch). Cooked on the premises the pies, pastries and cakes are to die for. The farm shop always has a good selection of fresh seasonal produce and the butcher's counter has a wide variety of locally farmed meat. For those of you with a cold box there are also pasties, pies, veg and fruits available from the freezer. Well worth a quick detour off the A30.
