A hidden gem, west of well-known Cowes, think beautiful beach huts lining the shores, picnic greens and happy families. This is a great place to bring the little ones. Only a half hour walk from Cowes makes it well located for bigger days out, but you should find all you need here, with the sailing club keeping everyone entertained.

Gurnard is such a pretty place. The children loved skimming stones on the beach here, then a long play in the lovely park (which is enclosed) and then we finished off with a hot chocolate and a slice of cake at the Watersedge Beach Cafe. Perfect!

Nice cosy pub

Popped in for a drink early evening. Cosy, traditional pub with a nice atmosphere. Not sure if they serve food as didn’t see any sign of any whilst there.

A large area of woodland maintained by the Forestry Commission. There's miles of woodland walks suitable for both walkers and mountain bikers. The red squirrel hide is a great place to spot wildlife from.

A private beach accessed only from Osborne House where you will pay an entry fee. The beach is sandy and safe, a favourite of Queen Victoria and her children when they were in residence. These days you can take a look at her bathing hut and enjoy an ice cream on the beach. A shuttle bus runs from the house between April - October. There's no lifeguard cover and dogs are not allowed.
