Nearby pub

A traditional pub, only a mile away from the sea and with a great outside area for al fresco dining. Dogs are made very welcome and a takeaway menu is available on certain days of the week. Give them a ring for further details.

Nearby beach

Sometimes known as Aberdraw, this small cove is so tucked away it is often not marked on maps. At low tide there's a small sand and shingle beach, perfect for rock pooling. The surrounding tall cliffs offer shelter from the wind and make this the perfect sun trap in summer. Look out for the little island and stone arch but do be aware of strong currents out to sea. It's best to park in the village and walk to the beach where dogs are allowed year round.

Nearby walk

This picturesque coastal walk takes in the path along the coast from Abereiddi and then inland from Porthgain through pretty countryside. Passing the iconic Blue Lagoon, pretty Porthgain Harbour and dramatic cliffs, this walk is a must. Thanks to our friends at the National Trust you can follow their map where the walk starts at Porthgain but as it's circular you can pick it up at any point.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A charming village with an attractive harbour. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was a flourishing seaport exporting slate and shale. Now it is a quaint harbour occupied by small fishing boats. Don't miss the opportunity to buy crab fresh off the boat when the fishermen return. Have dinner in - or outside at Sloop Inn, and enjoy some of the finest Fish and Chips at the Shed where locally caught crab and lobster are also served.

Delightful visit

Charming harbour and a lovely walk. Unfortunately we didn’t check opening times of the Shed so we never managed to find it open to try the fish and chips. Lovely art gallery there. Beautiful site for a sunset photo.

With an emphasis on fresh local fish, there is always a meat and vegetarian option available. There's a relaxed atmosphere and this is the ideal place to go for fish and chips. It's adviseable to check opening times as this does vary throughout the year.

Great fish

The fish and chips were excellent, as was the coffee and the service. Very welcome after a walk along the coastal path.
Would definitely recommend.

Village pub with good food. Need to book table to eat. Not always a full menu available on the night. Held a quiz night whilst we were there but need to book in advance. Need to pay when ordering.

Eating out

Pretty location. Food was ok but some could have been hotter. No tabs - all must be paid when ordering.

With delightful views over surrounding countryside, this traditional inn is a great place for outside al fresco dining. In winter months you'll find a roaring log fire to keep you toasty. Food is traditional and hearty, the pie is recommended.

A quaint sheltered working harbour with a small pebby beach at the end. Limited parking is available alongside the beach and the nearest facilities can be found in Tefin.
