Visits to the pub
We were made to feel welcome. Log fire burning, lovely furniture to relax on, drinks high standard, staff friendly and helpful. We were on holiday staying in the village. They do a pie night on Mondays. We enjoyed the chicken and chorizo choice and veg perfectly cooked. Excellent puds. Just sad that there were not many customers on a couple of nights when we went. I hope more locals support them in the future.

Disappointing
Having read rave reviews we were disappointed by the breakfast we had there…cold, hard tomatoes and reheated squelchy mushrooms. The upside was sitting out in the sun next to the sea.

Fantastic waves,
This beach, even on a windy march day was spectacular and blew away the cobwebs and was very invigorating. Food in the Hive Cafe was great too.
August 2010
Hive Beach Cafe serves superb food suitable for all the family from an informal premises right on the beach. Get there early as it's very popular, but even when busy the service is usually reasonably quick.

Phenomenal view!
Although finding somewhere to park was not straightforward (there is no official parking) it was worth the visit. A nice easy walk around the hill and incredible views if you have the right weather.

Beautiful spot and lovely views. A must.

Beautiful at sunset!
We like ancient history, so perhaps if you don't you might not find this place as fascinating, but it is beautiful at sunset and the views across Dorset out to see are absolutely stunning!

Lovely staff, lovely location
We visited this centre a lot on our recent holiday due to their bird hide and the seating overlooking the stream at the back of the centre. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, the cafe served delicious food and they had lots of interesting activities for the children (aged 11).

A great find
Went to the pub for a meal. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal. The food was excellent. Being a coeliac the chef went out of his way to cater for my needs.

Excellent food - idyllic setting.
If you feel like a something to eat in an idyllic setting away from everything, then this is the place to go. The food is excellent, not expensive and the menu caters for practically everyone - I say 'practically' everyone because there is always that one person for whom it won't! For us though, this is certainly an Inn that we shall be returning to.

A freehouse with excellent pub food. The pub garden has won the Best Small Pub Garden and has lovely views. Family run over a number of years, it's well worth a visit.
Enjoy a (not so) swift pint by the cosy log fire in winter or out in the patio garden in summer at this 17th Century thatched country inn. Lunch and dinner menus include locally sourced seafood and meats. You can enjoy a locally brewed pint of Palmers ale while the kids play on the giant Jenga. Booking is advisable in summer.

Sunday Roast at The George
After a breathtaking walk along the spectacular Jurassic Coast on a Sunday afternoon there is nothing more needed than a fabulous Sunday roast. We were a little late in arriving at The George however and when everywhere else had turned us away The George were very friendly and provided a well needed refuel stop before continuing our walk. Traditional and cosy atmosphere, in a pretty thatched pub, good food, beer and service.

Great all-rounder
Great food served here, with a huge choice to choose from and a good selection of Palmers ales. The staff and proprietor are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. As well as the bar/drinking area and restaurant there is a lovely snug with an open fire for cooler days/nights. Would definitely recommend.

With proud oak beams and cosy inglenooks, this pub is perfect for all months with a suntrap beer garden for the summer and roaring open fires in the winter. Excellent food and service
July 2023
Good food and dog friendly
Worth a visit, good savoury food although we were a little disappointed with the desserts
January 2011
At last our pretty, thatched pub with its lovely garden has the publican it deserves with a young, local couple taking over. The chef has received AA Rosette awards at the other pubs where he has cooked, and his wife ensures there is a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is certainly a cut above the usual pub fare, so much so that Dan, the chef has a dedicated army of followers and so booking for a meal is essential. Its not just for diners though. Popping in for a drink is much encouraged and the cottage garden with lovely views makes it the perfect place for a summer pint.
