KingThe quintessential romantic getaway awaits in the picturesque fishing village of Coverack. The Loft is a gorgeous bolthole, perfectly situated above the crystal-clear waters of the bay with views to die for. Spend the day gazing at the ever-changing tides from your very own Cornish cottage, only the lucky few experience the charm and tranquility of this captivating corner of west Cornwall.
The Loft really is very special! A former thatched fishermen's cottage over 300 years old, it is now beautifully restored and refurbished to marry seamlessly with the calming blue hues of the sea. Open the front door to the open plan living space, your breath will most certainly be taken away by the most magnificent views.
This reverse-level property really makes the most of the outlook, on the first floor you'll find a perfect little kitchen with essential coffee pod machine, restful armchairs set in front of a cosy electric log-effect fire and a dining-area with a view that is second to none. Perhaps perch on the window seat with your morning coffee and enjoy long relaxing starts to the day.
Downstairs a fabulous bedroom awaits, with sash windows overlooking the bay you can wake up to the sound of the gentle waves lapping on the shore with your morning cuppa, how blissful is that? A handy cloakroom with WC is located off the bedroom and the fabulous shower-room can be found on the first floor. With a nod to the creative talents of the owners, The Loft is a beautiful seaside escape, perfect for a romantic getaway.
Using a neutral palate and created to complement the surrounding area, the floors are natural oak with gorgeous driftwood effect furnishings. Soft furnishings in cream and pale blue tones complement this lovely space.
Private parking for a medium-sized car is adjacent to The Loft and additional parking, if required, can be found in the nearby village car park (payable locally).
As soon as you drive down the hill into the village of Coverack you realise you are somewhere truly special. The road hugs the side of the bay, bringing views of the harbour and beach, and out to sea over the Atlantic.
If you can bear to tear yourself away from the blissful view from The Loft, there is plenty to see and do either on foot or further afield. For walkers, the coast path follows the route through the village so you can walk for miles in either direction. During summer months the local surf school teach paddleboarding and kayaking and this all takes place just a stone's throw away from your holiday abode.
The area is renowned for local produce and roadside stalls sell an abundance of fresh vegetables, perfect for creating a holiday feast. If the chef fancies a night off there are plenty of options when it comes to eating out in the village. The Paris Hotel is just a few minutes' walk away and serves good, local pub fayre. The Lifeboat House serves the best fish and chips around and you can either eat in or takeaway and sit on the harbour wall whilst tucking in. The ice cream parlour does a roaring trade in summer and the local cafe is also good for freshly brewed coffee and cake.
Further afield a visit to Roskilly's Dairy is a must where you can treat yourself to a traditional cream tea, some locally made fudge or a delicious ice cream - there are plenty of tempting flavours to choose from. Beautiful and much photographed Kynance Cove should be on your to do list, along with dramatic Lizard Point, the most southerly place in England. Away from the Lizard and further west, St Michael's Mount is somewhere special but plan your day around the tides as the walkway can get busy for a few hours a day. When the tide is in little boats take guests to and from the island, a fun trip for young and old alike.
The Minack Theatre, carved into the rock face and with the mighty Atlantic as a backdrop is awe inspiring and the beautiful beaches and art galleries of St Ives should not be missed. However you plan to spend your days, The Loft will hold a place in your heart forever.
