If you want to get away from it all, why not visit Fell View in Gunnerside! A cosy three bedroom cottage in the heart of the village with a local pub on your doorstep and a front courtyard with wooden bench where you can sit and watch the world slowly pass by.

Step inside this charming cottage with its many original features, including exposed beams, stone walls and a wood-burning fireplace. The cosy sitting-room has the wood-burner as its focal point with an ancient mantel above, with nooks carved into the thick stone walls. Snuggle up in front of the fire with a cup of Yorkshire tea and a good book and when it's time for dinner, the dining-area, also showcasing exposed beams and thick stone walls, has a generous dining-table, perfect for sharing family time together with a feast of fresh Yorkshire produce all prepared in the adjoining, cottage, kitchen. There is also a handy downstairs cloakroom.

As night rolls in climb the stairs to your choice of country-style bedrooms which share a family bathroom, and all with magnificent views towards the hills surrounding Swaledale. There are some sloping ceilings (please mind your head) but this just adds to the cottage charm.

From the moment you step out of the front door you are immersed in the life of the Dales, from the slow rush of the stream leading into the river Swale, to the bleats of the nearby sheep and the cluster of picturesque cottages. Within minutes you will reach the local pub with its roaring fire and choice of Black Sheep Ale, or if you prefer, the village coffee shop.

Venture further away and visit one of the many tea rooms in Reeth with a wonderful choice of home-made cakes. The Dales Bike Centre in Reeth is the place to eat if you need your bike serviced at the same time! From here there are maps for bike trails up and through the hills.

In the other directions, over Buttertubs Pass, driving close to Hardraw Force, England's highest unbroken waterfall, you will come to the pretty village of Hawes. Spend time visiting the many independent shops, or walk in the footsteps of Wallace and Gromit and enjoy cheese tasting at the Wensleydale Creamery.

There are many beautiful villages to visit or for more waterfalls walk along the side of Aysgarth Falls. If history is your thing visit Middleham Castle, once the home of Richard III, or Castle Bolton where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner.

There are so many amazing places to visit you will want to book again at Fell View just to fit everything in.
