The Old Stable nestles in a splendid, elevated position with far reaching views of the hills and dales in the hamlet of Crackpot in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. A delightfully rustic cottage with original beams, roaring wood-burner and a cosy and welcoming atmosphere with the advantage of a pretty garden, parking, views and walking from your doorstep. Ideal for couples or a small group of friends, it is a perfect base to explore the surrounding countryside and all the Dales has to offer, you can even bring your four-legged friend too.

The Old Stable retains its original charm while offering country-style comfort, the compact kitchen has French doors which open on to a patio facing the garden. The sitting-room is just the place to spend evenings together in front of the wood-burner on those chillier evenings, a visit at any time of year will be warm and toasty. The TV has Netflix, iPlayer, TV and radio channels and there are shelves of books, maps and local information for your perusal and amusement. Views of the countryside and the garden can be enjoyed from all the windows and natural daylight streams in from above in the generous stairwell. Upstairs you will find two comfortable bedrooms where you can unwind and relax and then, in the morning, awake from a comfy slumber to a beautiful view from your bedroom. Even the large walk-in shower room has super vista looking out down the Dale.

Outdoors, a few steps lead down to a terrace where a table invites you to sit awhile and ponder your day's adventures, perfect for sunny days or balmy evenings. A path, unfenced with a drop, leads from the terrace to a lower lawned garden which is framed with mature bushes and plants, this really is an idyllic place to spend some time listening to the birds and sheep and watch the clouds roll overhead to the backdrop of Dales scenery. Nightime can be just as magical as the owls begin to call and the dark skies fill with a wondrous array of twinkling stars, you never know, you may even see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) as they have been known to appear here.

The Old Stable is ideally situated for walkers, hikers, mountain bikers, birdwatchers and anyone who wants to explore the beautiful Dales countryside. The Swale Trail, Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast walks are nearby. You can experience the rich and photogenic heritage of Upper Swaledale with its traditional farm buildings, summer hay meadows, flocks of hardy Swaledale sheep, stunning castles and industrial archaeology. While you will undoubtedly be enchanted by the peacefulness of the place, there are plenty of attractions nearby. The local pub, The Punch Bowl in Low Row, has a welcoming open fire and serves delicious meals. The honeypot village of Gunnerside, a couple of miles away, has a cafe and a friendly community owned pub, The Kings Head, serving good hot and cold food.

A couple of miles further along is the village of Muker which has an annual show, one of many country fairs in this area in the summer, shops selling artisan ware and a cafe. Further afield is Hawes which has lots of local shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes and the famous Wensleydale creamery of Wallace and Gromit fame, a must for cheese enthusiasts. The Snaizeholme Valley is close by, where you can watch red squirrels in the wild. Other attractions in the area include the magnificent Aysgarth Falls, Hardraw Force waterfall and historic Castle Bolton, dating back to the 14th Century, which housed Mary Queen of Scots as she journeyed to London to meet her fate. There is something for everyone in the Yorkshire Dales.
