SingleNestled in the tranquil hamlet of Mulfra in West Penwith, Hay Barn is a quaint single-storey cottage that exudes charm and character. Sleeping three guests in cosy comfort, you can exit this home and discover the footpaths in this enchanting part of west Cornwall. The exterior boasts traditional granite stone walls softened by modern windows and a nature filled garden, it truly creates a picturesque setting.
Inside, the cottage reflects the quirky artistic flair of its owners. The open plan living area with its cosy wood-burner has an eclectic mix of vintage furniture. Original vibrant art stands proud on the whitewashed walls, so beautifully presented, adding a creative touch to the space and available to buy from the friendly owners living locally.
The handcrafted galley kitchen has wooden cabinetry and modern appliances, a social space to enjoy and share local produce overlooking the sweet garden. Sit back and relax on the much loved leather sofa, light the cast iron wood-burner on chillier evenings, this really is a place to ease into your holiday.
A tranquil principal bedroom has a king-size bed, soft linens and more of the artist's work adding to the charm. A second single bedroom overlooks the garden and this cottage is complete with a modern shower-room. Hay Barn offers a peaceful space, inspiration and the opportunity to relax into wild west Cornwall.
Outside there is a private garden, take in the distant view, throw open the doors to the romantic summer-house, rain or shine it's the perfect place to be to enjoy a coffee at breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening.
In the local area there is so much to explore, walk the rugged landscape alongside the ancient megalithic stone structures. The local village of Zennor houses an ancient 13th Century church, sit on the mermaid's chair and recall the mystic stories of a time gone by. Always a good opportunity to pop into the village pub, the Tinners, choose from the tempting menu and listen to the Cornish fiddlers.
Marazion is not far by car, walk the causeway to the Mount. In Penzance take a dip in the geothermal pool or walk along its promenade, and of course stop for fish and chips. Further on in Newlyn, try the famous locally made ice cream at Jelbert's, pop into the fishmongers and take home some fresh fish then cook up a feast enjoying the warmth and welcome that awaits you at Hay Barn.
