Zip and linkIntroducing Lexhayne Mill, a stunning rural retreat which oozes splendour and comfort, set in one of the most magical waterside locations, within 22 acres of glorious countryside. Whether you are seeking a destination for that special family occasion or looking to escape with good friends to a place where the everyday hustle and bustle is far away, congratulations you have found it at Lexhayne Mill. That said, you have pretty and historic Colyton within 2 miles and the seaside towns of Seaton and Lyme Regis as well as the coastal villages of Beer and Branscombe, all nestled on the Jurassic Coast and only a short car journey away. A day of exploration and adventure is just around the corner.
Lexhayne Mill is set in the most private location, surrounded by farmland, this exceptionally grand property has been lovingly furnished, ensuring that your special holiday is full of both fun and games along with relaxation and tranquillity, the perfect holiday combination for all generations and occasions. The walkers will also be in their element, as there is a footpath which runs directly from the grounds of Lexhayne Mill. You can do a short 15 minute loop through the fields and along the river or walk a little further to Colyton, approximately 30 minutes on foot. On entering Lexhayne Mill, you will instantly feel at home. Kick off your shoes and hang up your jackets in the grand entrance hall, then on to explore the rest of the property. At the furthest point of the house, you will find the magnificent kitchen, which is also home to a large sitting area and fabulous farmhouse dining-table, perfect for enjoying any meal and with direct access to the patio and pond. Retiring to the sitting-room to relax and unwind after a full day of adventure is a real treat, especially as you have a glowing wood-burner to cuddle up in front of, and possibly some soothing music should you have a piano player amongst you. You could also open the patio doors to the veranda and let the magical sound of the lapping water and the birdsong be your music. When it comes to bedtime, heading upstairs you will be greeted by six glorious bedrooms, three of which are en suite along with a further family bathroom.
Enjoying a good night's sleep is essential as tomorrow's adventure is just around the corner. Whether it's exploring your immediate surroundings or taking a short drive to the sought-after Jurassic Coast with its stunning beaches and fabulous South West Coastal Path. Staying at home is also a favourable option. A lazy day relaxing within your private and enclosed patio and veranda area, sparking up the barbecue and soaking up the Devon sun sounds like the perfect way to spend the day. Especially as the living areas open onto the patio, ensuring that whether you are sat inside or outside, you are always part of the celebrations.
Even though you are set in the most magical tranquil and rural location, you are not alone. The very friendly owners live in a separate building within the grounds. They are on hand at any time to help make your holiday perfect. Otherwise, you will have complete privacy - with your own private space that's not overlooked. As the property is surrounded by farmland, please ensure any dogs are kept on leads and you are mindful of the sheep if you are planning to enjoy a walk around the neighbouring fields.
When venturing out and about, the town of Axminster is only a short car journey away, with a vibrant weekly Thursday market in the square and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage Kitchen and Store nearby for a delicious brunch, lunch or afternoon tea. Colyton and Colyford offer all your desired conveniences with great butchers and bakers and a welcoming watering hole (or two) for those nights you fancy a change of scenery and a new chef.
For the chef of the party, foraging for that fine dining produce is a real pleasure at Millers Farm Shop supplying traditional Devon produce as well as specialist French fayre, making whipping up that celebratory meal even more enjoyable.
Whether you are looking for peace and tranquillity, or adventure and action, you will find it all and much more when staying at Lexhayne Mill.
