Located a short drive between the small Saxon hilltop north Devon market town of Chumleigh and the historic town of Great Torrington, come and discover this quintessential thatched cob cottage, full of character and retaining many original features offering peace and tranquility. This pretty three-bedroom detached cottage offers the perfect base for a family holiday or a romantic rural escape for two and, with walks straight from the house, of course no holiday is complete without your four-legged friend by your side.

In the generous sitting-room you will find a large inglenook fireplace with a wood-burner, whilst comfy sofas with soft cushions invite you to take off your shoes and snuggle in for the day. The original beams and carefully chosen furnishings create a warm and inviting space where you will want to spend time together, reading, listening to music, watching a movie, or simply chatting. This room also enjoys views over the beautiful valley in which the cottage sits.

Across the hallway is the kitchen/diner; preparing a holiday feast in the gorgeous farmhouse kitchen is a real pleasure, share delicious, tasty treats around the table where many holiday memories are sure to be made. For the cooler days and evenings, the kitchen benefits from a second wood-burner, bringing warmth and a cosy glow to the space, so why not stay awhile before heading across to the sitting-room to find a comfier seat?

A big attraction of this special property is the fabulous garden and outside spaces to relax in. This includes a wonderful 'state of the art' garden-room with bi-fold doors to open up and bring the outside in. A work room, kids' space, or simply somewhere to chill out to escape the rays of the midday sun, this unexpected addition is a real feature of the cottage and somewhere you will want to spend time.

When eyes get tired, head up the stairs (please mind your head if you are tall!) to find one of three comfortable bedrooms, all furnished with quality mattresses and fresh cotton linens, the recipe for a restful night's sleep. Across the split landing discover the spacious main bedroom featuring a double bed and triple aspect views over the pretty garden and valley plus a rather fantastic leopard print French antique chair. The second double, equally as inviting, with king-size double bed, also overlooks the lush gardens. The third room, the smaller of the three, features a bespoke 'zip and link' bed, two small child-sized single beds ideal for the young ones, or you can request a king-size bed at the time of booking. There is also a shower-room on this floor whilst the main bathroom can be found downstairs on the ground floor where there is a deep tub in which to soak and watch the sunset.

North Devon has everything for the quintessential holiday getaway. For walkers the scenic coast path offers dramatic headlands and secret coves just waiting to be discovered. Surfers will love the vast sandy beaches where north Atlantic rollers beckon. Inland, green pastures, quirky market towns and pretty villages are all waiting to be discovered.

A mere stone's throw away, Westward Ho! is the perfect family destination and has a fabulous beach, rockpools and sea pool for everyone to enjoy. Iconic Clovelly with its steep cobbled street and pretty harbour should be on your 'to do' list and the gorgeous villages of Appledore and Instow are worth a visit for their pristine beaches and the traditional passenger ferry which sails in between the two.

Perhaps a visit to Bideford is on the cards where you can catch the ferry to Lundy Island and spend the day bird spotting or maybe visit the National Trust's Arlington Court. Whatever your plans, create holiday memories to last a lifetime here.
