Nestled in the picturesque Yorkshire village of Borrowby, Ivy House is a beautifully renovated farmhouse steeped in history and with bags of character which gives a nod to its historic past. Wonderfully set near Thirsk, York and Harrogate and not one but two pubs within a short walk, Ivy House is just the place for you whether you are looking for a relaxing stay in the Yorkshire countryside or wishing to explore the Moors and Dales.

Ivy House is a gem just waiting to be enjoyed by family and friends. You step into the hallway with fascinating original wall beams to the well-equipped kitchen where the wood-burner in the stone fireplace takes pride of place. The farmhouse table is perfect to enjoy a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, you are on holiday after all! The friendly sitting-room is very spacious, gather everyone together and play a board game or just enjoy a favourite film, there are plenty of books for everyone. The wood-burner will keep you all warm and toasty whatever the season.

Ivy House has four large and comfortable country-style bedrooms, two bedrooms are on the first floor, one king-size with an en suite shower-room, and one with flexible 'zip and link' beds both with pretty views of the village and the countryside beyond. The two attic rooms have wonderful beams and another en suite bathroom, both have amazing far reaching countryside views. The family bathroom has a bath and shower, just the place to soak tired legs after a hike on the North York Moors.

The luxury doesn't stop here, outside Ivy House has a delightful private garden, again with views of the village and fields. In season there are strawberries, herbs and flowers for you to use, sit awhile and take in the birdsong and peace before filling your days with fun filled Yorkshire exploring. Ivy House welcomes your furry friends too so no need to leave Fido at home.

Situated in the Vale of York, Ivy House is perfectly placed between the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales and close to Thirsk which is only minutes away and has a distinct charm all of its own with its cobbled market square. Thirsk is famous for its association with James Herriot, the Yorkshire Vet, whose veterinary surgery is now a world class museum and rated one of the top 10 attractions in the world.

Helmsley is a picturesque drive away over Sutton Bank, here you will find this quaint town just brimming with individual shops and boasting one of the few outdoor lidos in the country. Helmsley Castle is perfect for exploring and afterwards visit the wonderful cafes and restaurants.

Gardeners will enjoy visiting Newby Hall or Thorpe Perrow Arboretum and zoo. Take a trip to Harrogate which has numerous activities and events all year round including the Great Yorkshire Show. Betty's Cafe is a must where you can indulge in Anglo/Swiss goodies.

For magical outings with children visit the Forbidden Corner, an unforgettable experience. Moor Park Farm has hands on fun with the animals and the fun pool in Northallerton with its slides and wave machines is sure to keep them happy and exhausted. York is only 27 miles away with its medieval walls, historic Minster and vibrant shopping and nightlife, the Jorvic Museum is perfect for all ages.

If you want to dip your toes into the sea, grab a bucket and spade and head for the towns and villages of Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes. Book a special treat at one of the three local Michelin star restaurants, The Black Swan at Oldstead and Roots in York by Tommy Banks and The Star at Harome.

Two local pubs are both within walking distance, the Dog and Gun is great for food and The Wheatsheaf has lots of events, both welcome dogs.
