KingFor out-of-season breaks or lazy summer stays, come and immerse yourself in the Fowey way of life at the stylish Blue Mill Retreat. Fowey is a magical place, surrounded by beautiful countryside and scenery. It's the place to rewind and re-energise, so spend your days enjoying stunning coastal walks, lazy lunches in waterside eateries and having some fun on the water.
Tucked away at one end of the town, at the back of the Blue Mill Building, Blue Mill Retreat is really tranquil, yet only a short and easy walk to everything this trendy sailing town has to offer, and a mere hop and skip to the Bodinnick Ferry for when you want to venture further afield.
The epitome of a treasured bolthole, this ground floor apartment is perfect for solo travellers and couples alike. Step inside where warm and welcoming interiors await, beautifully presented with great attention to detail. With a large hallway, cosy, open plan living area, a tranquil bedroom with a separate dressing-room, and a sleek, no expense spared bathroom, Blue Mill Retreat really packs a punch. From the living-room you can access the sheltered terraced area. Shared with two other apartments, there are different levels and areas so you can all enjoy some space of your own.
Fowey is a vibrant coastal town with higgledy-piggledy terraced cottages perched on the hilly, narrow streets leading down to the water. There are many activities throughout the year, with Regatta Weeks, the Fowey Festival of Words and Music, the Fowey River Big Gig and BBQ Weekend, and Christmas Markets. Mosey around the boutiques, art galleries, and independent shops, stopping at one of the many places to eat and drink for some refreshments along the way. Fowey is a popular destination with sailors, with hundreds of yachts and boats bobbing on their moorings. The water is the playground here and if you fancy joining in, book yourself a sailing lesson or hire some kayaks and paddleboards and go off exploring the waterways under your own steam. Ferries cross to Polruan, Bodinnick and Mevagissey so why not hop aboard and see where they take you?
Fabulous walks abound and once you head out you will understand why this area was the inspiration for the author Daphne du Maurier who made this area her home. The Hall Walk is one of the best, leading right from your door, it's a circular walk of exceptional beauty through woodland and creek and two ferry rides to boot!
For walking around gardens, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project are a must, and not forgetting the gardens, parkland and historic house at Lanhydrock (National Trust).
