SingleOnce formerly part of a woollen mill dating back to 1870, Bobbins Cottage is an exquisitely renovated Welsh retreat nestling in the midst of enchanting woodland, just a short drive from magical Cenarth Falls, the majestic beauty of the River Teifi, the Elan Valley and the spectacular beaches of the Cardiganshire coast. Located on the Carmarthenshire/Cardiganshire border explore the best of both worlds. Try white water rafting on the Teifi or dolphin spotting boat trips from New Quay. However you choose to spend your days you will be blown away by the splendour of this spellbinding area of Wales and the high standard of this excellently appointed Welsh cottage.
Sleeping five, the heavenly accommodation is located on the ground floor. Enjoy get togethers in the spacious, well-equipped kitchen, where the cook will be in their element. Choose local produce for some tasty dishes. The anglers in the party will love the salmon and trout fishing nearby. Relax around the dining-table together enjoying quality time away from it all. After hiking, cycling, canoeing or beach days the comfy sofas are bliss. Find your favourite movie, or that book you've been meaning to read, and indulge in some glorious down time. For a real treat, soak in the luxury of the jacuzzi bath or choose the 'twin' shower/bath room for sophisticated elegance. The peaceful bedrooms offer a hushed night's sleep with only the sounds of the local wildlife in the distance. Ideal for muddy walking boots and buckets, spades and fishing nets, the large utility-room with a washing machine is ideal. The enchanting gardens are a joy; take time out immersed in nature, follow the stream (take care with children) and explore the woodlands (the expansive gardens are shared with the owner who has every respect for your privacy and guests at Weavers Rest (5509) nearby). For a sunny lunch sit at the picnic table and soak up the fresh Welsh country air. The nearest shop is at Pentrcwrt a short walk away, with larger supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants in the market town of Llandysul, nearby.
For an enchanting experience visit Cenarth Falls, just up the road. Take the prettiest walk to the bridge, call into the interesting Coracle Centre and complete the perfect afternoon with a delicious cake, including bara brith and a pot of tea in the tea rooms. For the more adventurous, there's paddleboarding, kayaking or with Adventure Beyond, the thrill of white water rafting on the Teifi. Nearby is the dramatic Alltcafan Gorge, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Follow the route of the old train track, which is now a gentle riverside footpath surrounded by pretty woodland. You can walk through the Victorian railway tunnel. Call at Plas Parke Inn for a welcome drink and tasty lunch or the Black Horse nearby. For walkers too, follow the River Teifi down from Cilgerran Castle to the sea at Cardigan Bay. This six mile stroll takes in a wealth of wildlife, a gorgeous gorge and spectacular beaches. Cardigan Castle which guards the lowest bridge of the Teifi is downstream, steeped in history, Rhys ap Gruffudd built the castle in 1176. The quaint, characterful town of Cardigan is well worth a visit, as is Lampeter or Carmarthen. Try Cwrst in Cardigan for lunch or a delicious coffee and a cake. There are heavenly beaches galore along the Cardigan coast. Mwnt is a perfect sheltered cove that's one of the best for spotting dolphins. Discover Llangrannog, a dolphin spotting boat trip from New Quay, Tresaith, Dolau, Traeth Saith or Aberporth. You'll find the beginning or the end of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which winds its way for 186 miles to Amroth in the south of Pembrokeshire, at Poppet Sands, a sand dune backed bay great for a memorable beach day. Try the delicious ice creams there. A great day out, a little further afield, are the colourful seaside towns of Tenby in the south or Aberystwyth, where you will find an array of colourful independent shops, the famous Victorian promenade and many good eateries, Ultracomida, The Libertine or Banera. For family days, try the Welsh Wildlife Centre, Dyfed Shire Horse Farm and Castell Henllys, an Iron Age Hill Fort.
Whether you fancy a break in the spring or summertime for beach days, glorious walks, mountains, waterfalls, gold mines and castles, in the autumn to enjoy the spectacular woodland hues or a winter getaway seeking out the roaring fires of the country pubs after a bracing beach walk, Bobbins Cottage offers the perfect rural Welsh retreat.
