DoubleWhat a handsome house this is, Toadstools is a fine example of classic Georgian architecture. From the pretty double fronted facade with ornate metal canopy over the sage green painted front door, to the well-proportioned rooms and abundance of original charm and character. To one side of the entrance hall step into the lovely sitting-room, complete with inglenook fireplace, comfy sofa and armchairs, beamed ceiling and sash windows, a lovely room to relax with the ones you love. Fire up the wood-burner as the night draws in or on a fresh winter's day and get cosy with a good book or great conversation.
Head across the hall into the kitchen/dining-room to make a cuppa or cook up a holiday meal, this social space has room for cooks and their helpers, so grab a chopping board and get those vegetables prepared. Shop local at the Veryan village store or Curgurrell Farm shop, for fresh fish, wine, cheese, hot pasties, artisan bread and locally grown organic fruit and vegetables. And for those guests who prefer to let someone else do the cooking and washing up, choose from The New Inn, the highly rated traditional local pub serving home-cooked food and a friendly welcome. In warmer weather head outside to the pretty garden to enjoy breakfast or lunch on the patio, the owners have created a peaceful space with a Mediterranean feel from the olive and fruit trees to the shady corner, a perfect retreat when the sun gets too much.
When the eyelids get heavy climb the typically steep stairs to one of two comfortable bedrooms in the main house; bedroom one, with super-king double bed, enjoys views over both the garden area and the front entrance and pretty bedroom two with twin beds is to the right-hand side of the bathroom. To access bedroom three, head out through the kitchen door and across the patio to the annexe, a totally private space with a comfy double bed and your very own en suite shower-room, perfect for guests wanting a little quiet space and time.
Treworga is a peaceful hamlet on the Roseland peninsula with all you need for a fabulous holiday, Pendower and Carne beaches are very close by. As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (now known as natural landscapes), the Roseland offers stunning countryside and coastline, all of this is right on your doorstep.
Just a short car journey away you will discover Portscatho, one of the most unspoilt seaside villages in Cornwall. Seek out The Hidden Hut overlooking Porthcurnick Beach where you sit side by side on wooden benches and savour the freshest of local produce (booking is essential for feast nights). A little further afield St Mawes is a bustling harbourside town where you can enjoy fine dining or fish and chips straight out of paper whilst sitting on the harbour wall. From here, a 20 minute journey on the passenger ferry takes you over the water to Falmouth for a day out exploring galleries, eateries and a variety of local shops.
The stunning South West Coast Path encompasses the Roseland peninsula and you can pick up the trail at any point heading either east or west to discover secluded coves, dramatic cliffs and crystal clear waters. Perhaps a little history is the order of the day and Caerhays Castle and gardens are worth a visit for a stunning display of spring magnolias and camellias. A day out discovering the iconic biomes of the Eden Project should be on your 'to do' list, or perhaps the tranquility of The Lost Gardens of Heligan appeals. However you spend your holiday time, you are assured of a fabulous getaway at the lovely Toadstools.
