Captains Cottage sits in an enviable position just moments away from the bustling Brixham harbourside, perfectly placed for family holidays or groups of friends looking for a coastal getaway. Brixham is a vibrant harbourside town found in the heart of south Devon, with a great selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and beaches all within walking distance of the cottage.

Situated in a row of beautiful traditional terraced cottages dating back to the 1850s and accessed via a flight of 15 stone steps, Captains Cottage has been lovingly renovated with a contemporary interior and modern styling. The kitchen/dining-room is fully equipped, offering the perfect place to enjoy any meal. The cosy sitting-room is an invitation to unwind whilst cuddling up in front of the wood-burner, with games, a Smart TV and super-fast wifi also on offer. Retiring to bed is a pleasure too, with three beautiful bedrooms to choose from, everyone will find their perfect nighttime retreat.

Heading outside, you can soak up the sun on the raised patio looking out to sea - the perfect way to start the day. Whether it's enjoying your morning coffee, or a glass of something stronger whilst watching the sun set over the water, this is a lovely spot to sit and relax. Please do supervise young children and keep dogs on leads when enjoying this charming, elevated spot.

Once you leave Captains Cottage, you will find yourself within a short walk of the beautiful harbour and all the delights of this popular fishing town. Being so well positioned in central Brixham with all the amenities close at hand you will be spoilt for choice as to which direction you head off in, whether to explore the main town, or a visit to one of the local beaches or to head off along the coastal path. When it comes to parking the car, parking can be found either nearby on the street or in one of the public car parks, the nearest being the Breakwater car park only 650 yards away. However, as all the sites of Brixham are reachable on foot, you may decide to park your car, store the keys away and enjoy a car-free holiday!

Brixham is a fabulous place for a holiday for all generations. The vibrant harbour remains a hive of activity throughout the year - and the perfect pastime must be watching the fishing boats, gigs, yachts and local wildlife (including seals and dolphins) come and go. If the beach is calling, head for Breakwater beach (one of a number of local blue flag beaches) with stunning views towards Torbay and great for kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming or slightly further afield- Fishcombe Cove or St Mary's Bay. If you would rather swim in a pool, then try Shoalstone seawater pool with magnificent views over the bay.

For a day further afield catch the passenger ferry from the harbour to Torquay, a great place to spend time at a reasonable price. A steam train tour is also something the whole family will enjoy, calling in at places such as Totnes, Kingswear and Dartmouth.

Walkers in the party should head out along the coast path and explore the many coves and quiet beaches en route. Berry Head Nature Reserve offers some of the English Riviera's best coastal views and is home to many species of rare and threatened wildlife including horse-shoe bats, and one of the largest colonies of guillemots on the Southern Coast. Alongside nature trails, there is a working lighthouse, and an old coastal fort from the Napoleonic era. Attractions such as Agatha Christie's home Greenway is only 15 minutes away by car. Once you have explored the writer's magnificent house and gardens, either eat in the cafe within the grounds, or cross to Dittisham by romantic boat to either the Anchorstone cafe (David Dimbleby's favourite cafe!) or The Ferry Boat Inn. Should you be in search of a sandy beach for that exceptionally important sandcastle building, the nearby sandy Broadsands Beach (another Blue Flag beach with impressive beach cafes) is just the ticket, or the more secluded Elberry Cove is perfect for those looking for a touch less action. For sun lovers, another favourite day out is Blackpool Sands just outside of Dartmouth. Most beaches have kayaking or paddle boarding equipment to hire. Brixham is a great base for exploring all that Devon has to offer including its moors, beaches, flourishing wildlife and history.

Whichever direction you head out in, whether it be on foot, by car, bus, train or boat, you are guaranteed to have a wonderful time.
