Set in extensive grounds, less than 500 yards from the beach, Smugglers Barn is a beautiful hideaway ready to welcome six lucky guests looking for a laid-back coastal escape and is doggy friendly too (two well behaved pooches are most welcome).

This impeccable barn is steeped in history. Cornwall's most notorious smugglers from the Carter Family were born here and a blue plaque stands proudly on the front wall recognising the barns importance to this area and the infamous family that lived here in the 18th Century.

Ideal for families or a group of friends, it benefits from oodles of space for socialising both inside and in the gorgeous garden. Located just off the road that takes you into Praa Sands you are just minutes from the village and the delights it has to offer.

Arrive and step into the gorgeous open plan living and dining-room which is oh-so-spacious with beams and exposed granite stone walls. At one end you'll discover two sofas and an armchair nestled around the flickering wood-burner, perfect for socialising and relaxing after busy days out exploring the coast path, whilst a Smart TV is on hand for film nights. The large farmhouse dining-table lies at the other end of this room and is the perfect spot for long leisurely lunches and more formal dinners. From here, you will find the snug/games-room with a Smart TV, comfy sofa and a computer games console and a football table to keep the children amongst you entertained. Step into the inviting kitchen which overlooks the garden and is designed for sociable evening cooking and equipped to make the finest supper for your guests. Smugglers Barn has everything you could possibly wish for in your home away from home.

Take the winding open-tread wooden spiral staircase up to the first floor where you have three gorgeous bedrooms to choose from. The main en suite bedroom has a blissfully comfy king-sized wrought iron bed, with a door that leads directly into the en suite shower-room. Bedroom two boasts a 'zip and link' bed, which can either be two singles or a king-size (you choose). Bedroom three is a delightful bedroom and has another 'zip and link' bed. Also on this floor, there's a family bathroom complete with free-standing, roll-top bathtub and a large shower.

The outside space is truly stunning with a gorgeous lawned garden, complete with outdoor dining-table and chairs. Sheltered by an old Cornish hedge it's a beautiful location for a spot of al fresco dining in the sunshine or maybe a game or two. It's also a perfect area for children to play and hunt for possible hidden treasure left behind by the smugglers all those years ago, and for dogs to let off some steam. Please supervise children at all times particularly around the stream and sloped area.

Praa Sands is rapidly becoming one of Cornwall's hidden hot spots. A new addition is The Welloe a laid-back beachside bar serving hearty breakfasts and home-made pizzas and where you can kick back and listen to local bands several times a week. Fancy learning to surf? Then why not book a day's tuition at the surf school located on the beach. If you feel this is all far too strenuous then you have several beach cafes and a local deli to visit, and they are all dog friendly too.

If you feel like travelling a little further, the renowned Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe is a local pub only a few miles away and you have convenient access to the nearby fabulous foodie mecca town of Porthleven, where gastropubs and ancient inns serve an excellent selection of locally produced food, and there's also a popular outdoor market to mooch around. Head further west and you'll stumble across Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, the historic town of Penzance, the fishing village of Newlyn and picturesque Mousehole. Further still is the amazing Minack Theatre and stunning Porthcurno beach. Make sure to visit Sennen, a hotspot for surfers and home to an epic beach, Cape Cornwall for breathtaking sunsets and the road around to St Ives is a must for incredible views.
