Zip and linkIn a fantastic location, just a stone's throw from the pretty harbour of St Mawes, this dreamy fisherman's cottage is simply perfect. Beautifully decorated in relaxing pastel shades and with the most fabulous south-facing terrace with views across the harbour, this little gem offers everything you will need for a family holiday or friends looking for a getaway retreat.
Little Mariners sits in a tucked away location, a short five-minute downhill walk down to the beautiful harbour and village centre, however the walk back up may take a little longer due to the steep hill! Steps lead up from the road to the front terrace, from the moment you open the front door and step through the porch into the living-room you will fall in love with the elegant interiors, tastefully designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. A dreamy window seat invites you to sit and watch the boats bob in the harbour, or perhaps sink into the comfy sofa with a good book or tune into your favourite film on the Smart TV. The wood-burner will keep you toasty during cooler months and additional under-floor heating warms the lovely stone flagged floor.
The open plan downstairs is a great sociable space so everyone can gather around the dining-table to plan the day's adventures, or perhaps chat with the chef whilst dinner is being prepared. The kitchen has everything you'll need to create a holiday feast and with fresh fish from the harbour and local produce available from roadside stalls, the freshest of ingredients will be close at hand. Just off the kitchen, a handy shower-room with monsoon shower is the ideal place to rinse off salty toes.
Climb the stairs to the first floor and the two bedrooms and family bathroom await. The main bedroom to the front of the property has a comfy king-size bed, reclaimed wooden floors and the most delightful view over the harbour to Place and beyond. Bedroom two is lovely, decorated in blues and creams with a nod to this maritime location. With either three-foot twin beds or a super-king, this room offers you the flexibility to choose. The family bathroom is bright and cheerful and ideal for a long soak after a day out and about.
The icing on the cake at Little Mariners has to be the magical outside space. The south-facing front patio has stunning views over the harbour to Place and St Mawes Head. From sunrise to sunset, this view will captivate. A convenient outside tap is provided to wash sandy feet or paws and to the rear of the property (accessed via a flight of steps) you will find a lawned garden which offers further seating. Little Mariners really is a place holiday dreams are made of.
If you can bear to tear yourself away from this delightful abode, the centre of St Mawes is just a short stroll away. Summers beach is fabulous for some family seaside fun or perhaps wander around the harbour, watching sailing boats pass by. Sitting on the seawall eating the freshest of fish and chips from paper is a must here or try one of many fine dining options. St Mawes is a great place for sea sports, kayakers and paddleboarders will love exploring the many secret creeks and inlets of the Carrick Roads. A short ferry journey will take you over the water to the bustling town of Falmouth where the Maritime Museum at Discovery Quay tells the story of its seafaring past. With many eclectic shops and eateries, a day here will be much enjoyed.
A little further away the mighty biomes of the world-renowned Eden Project await, or perhaps a visit to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, lost in time for thirty years and now beautifully restored. Caerhays Castle is a real gem, with Gothic architecture and beautiful gardens to explore in spring.
Walking is one of the best ways to see the area and the coast path heads for miles around the Roseland peninsula. Hikers will delight in discovering the many tranquil hidden coves, dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches with breathtaking ocean vistas at every turn. However you choose to spend your holiday days in Cornwall, Little Mariners is a retreat you will look forward to returning to again and again.

Little Mariners is a traditional Cornish cottage and as such has low ceilings and doorways. There are small monkey fist knots and hearts that hang on the lowest areas to alert the unwary, but the tall should be mindful of this to avoid bumps and bruises.
