Bedroom 1
DoubleEnjoy precious time together at The Old Stable, a wonderful cottage for couples looking for a quiet getaway in this peaceful part of Sussex.
As you step inside the stable-door you are welcomed with exposed beams, wooden floors, and a characterful inglenook fireplace with wood-burner to snuggle in front of.
The double bedroom has beautiful 100% Egyptian cotton linen to offer that little touch of luxury and has access to the en suite shower-room. The open plan living area has been thoughtfully designed. Wake up to a morning coffee prepared with the Dolce Gusto coffee machine or cook a special meal whilst watching television or listening to your favourite tunes on Alexa. Off the kitchen is a stable-door to the patio area which has been beautifully planted to offer some privacy yet also gives the opportunity to chat to neighbouring guests. There is also an enclosed private garden for those wanting to bring their four-legged friends.
The Old Stable is in the grounds of the owners' lovely Grade II listed farmhouse and attached to three other holiday cottages: The Byre (4732), The Old Barn (4734) and The Coach House (4735), which is ideal for friends or family wishing to holiday together and still have some independence.
Guests have access to a freezer, washing machine and tumble-drier which are shared with the other cottages. There is an on-site allocated parking space for The Old Stable and additional parking available on the farm. Visit the resident farm animals which include chickens, pigs, and horses.
Two small or medium-sized well-behaved dogs are most welcome but please note that dogs must be kept on a lead when they are not in their enclosed private garden.
Ashburnham is a peaceful hamlet, set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are some lovely walks nearby and it is only a short drive to the South Downs National Park.
The nearest pubs are the Swan Inn at Dallington, one of the oldest pubs in Sussex which is famous for its 'Sawblade' floor and there is also the Ash Tree Inn a wonderful dog-friendly country pub popular with locals and visitors alike.
Take a short drive to the town of Battle famous for its Abbey and home to several boutiques, arts and craft shops, pubs, and tea rooms. Battle also has a mainline station which connects to London and the coast at Hastings. You are only a short drive from the coast of Pevensey Bay, Cooden Beach, Hastings, and Eastbourne.
A little further afield enjoy a day at Camber Sands or the medieval town of Rye with its cobbled streets and array of antique shops.
East Sussex is blessed with many historic houses, gardens and attractions: visit Bodiam Castle - the 14th Century moated castle near Robertsbridge; book a tour and tasting at one of several vineyards in the area; or explore Drusillas Park, widely regarded as the best small zoo in the country.
