Zip and linkA luxurious residence with far reaching sea views offering a real home-from-home any time of year, and in the idyllic and tranquil setting of Gillan Creek, Marnylunn means 'mariners cove' in Cornish, which is very apt with charming Flushing Cove only 150 yards from your front door. This beautiful property is simply perfect for spending time in, on, or near the water - whether it be wild swimming or in your heated pool, sailing, kayaking, blustery walks along the coastal path or getting back to nature with the ones you love, this is hidden Cornwall at its best.
This gorgeous property has been very comfortably refurbished by the owner, light and airy in the summer but cosy in the winter. Sheltering in this romantic Cornish landscape you will find your true holiday destination. As you enter the property it opens out in front of you and the house is light and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped with a large American fridge/freezer, a gas range cooker and essential Nespresso coffee machine.
Leading off the kitchen, past the drinks counter with built-in fridge, is the large dining-room which seats 12 people (please watch your step and mind your head on the ceiling). Open the bi-fold doors in the warmer months where steps lead down to the pool area, or just enjoy taking in the view through the picture windows.
The cosy sitting-room with Sonos sound system has a simply gorgeous sofa to sink into with views over the pool, garden and of course the Helford River beyond. The wood-burning stove is a delight for those cooler evenings and ideal after a swim in the cove. Additional comfortable seating is provided by a number of armchairs which can be pulled up too.
The house has three bedrooms all with fabulous super-king size beds and White Company linen. The main bedroom boasts the best views of course and has an en suite bathroom. The further two bedrooms each have their own shower-room and 'zip and link' beds that can be configured as two singles if required and every bathroom has lovely Faith and Nature soap and shower gel too. There is also a handy study space and good WIFI should you need to work on holiday or perhaps tuck yourself away to carry out research - maybe on the night sky which can be astonishing as this is an area of low light density (please watch your head on the low ceiling when descending the stairs from the study to the entrance hall).
The annexe, just across from the front door, provides the perfect extra living space for larger parties, teenagers or grandparents. Set above the garage on the first floor it is wonderfully tranquil. There is a super-king bed (also 'zip and link'), shower-room, kitchenette and living-room with views over the house and to the sea. There is also occasional sleeping for an extra two guests on the day beds in the annexe, please let our office know if you require these beds when booking.
Babes in arms up to six months old are welcome.
The garden and outside space is extraordinary. The heated outdoor pool is the perfect place to sit back and relax, lounging with a good book and a G&T in hand. Please do take care around the pool as it is not fenced (heated from 1st May to the end of October, the temperature does fluctuate a few degrees with the ambient temperature).
If you fancy trying your hand at cooking outdoors there is a wood-fired barbecue waiting for your steaks, sit around the fire-pit and enjoy watching the evening draw in, with the sound of birds and the trickle of water from the pond (which again is not fenced).
The orchard at the bottom of the garden is filled with wildflowers and fruit in season, follow the mown path to the secret gate at the bottom of the garden and wander down to the cove. On your way back to the house, stop and pick vegetables or salad greens from the garden. There is also a little garden hut with a day bed and lovely views, perhaps take your painting kit away with you and see what inspires you. Or doze in a deck chair on the lawn while watching the buzzards making lazy circles in the sky.
If you are more actively inclined, Marnylunn is on the coastal path and there are many beautiful walks, good in all seasons. Sailaway St Anthony hires out small boats and will meet you on the beach with the boat and any required lifejackets, giving you access to the waters of the Helford River and the famous Frenchman's Creek. Hire a boat, head round into the Helford, tie up at the jetty in the village and enjoy a pint at Shipwrights Inn or a Cornish ice cream at the village store.
There are excellent tennis courts at Manaccan, (a picturesque village 8 minutes' drive away), which are available with an honesty box, and if you are a golfer, try the links course at Mullion, while enjoying the beautiful views.
Marnylunn is the ultimate relaxing holiday destination.
