Full of charm and character, this simply gorgeous semi-detached cottage is nestled in the laid-back Cornish village of St Agnes. Lovingly furnished, Smugglers Cottage is a truly delightful and welcoming spot for a family holiday on an unspoilt part of the north Cornwall coast. Perfectly positioned on one of the village's most favoured roads, it's a short stroll to the great local surfer's beach at Trevaunance Cove as well as the area's fantastic local pubs, restaurants and shops.
Step inside to find the gorgeous kitchen with its beamed ceilings and a fabulous dining space, perfect for cooking up and enjoying a sociable holiday feast. The sitting-room is a wonderfully cosy hideaway with two comfortable sofas perfect for sinking into at the end of the day. On cooler evenings, light up the log-burner, make a hot chocolate and snuggle up. Bliss! On the ground floor, there is also a downstairs loo.
Upstairs, you will find three lovely bedrooms. The pretty main bedroom has a king-size bed and an en suite shower-room, and the second bedroom is lovely and light with a double bed and a blissful space to relax with a good book while the sunshine streams in. The colourful third bedroom has a single bed (taking a maximum weight of 70kg) and a trundle bed (Smugglers accommodates five with flexibility of beds), perfect for children. There is also a family shower-room on this floor.
Outside, there is a beautifully tranquil outdoor space for soaking up the sunshine with your morning coffee and planning the day ahead. At the front of the house there is a sun terrace with barbecue and garden dining furniture, the ideal spot for balmy summer evenings. Here you will also find the Surf and Fur Shack. To the rear is an area where you can rinse off sandy paws and salty surfboards at the end of the day.
The village of St Agnes is becoming one of Cornwall's most sought-after destinations and spend a little time there and you will soon see why. You can leave the car and pretty much everything you need for a great holiday is on your doorstep. Food wise, whether it's a laid-back cafe or an upmarket eatery you're covered and with local shops from a butcher to a deli all close by. Some of our top tips include The Tap House, Taste and of course The Driftwood Spars, famous for its beer. For fish and chips there's Fission in the village or a short drive to Perranporth to try Pickwick's and you won't be disappointed! The St Agnes bakery, a favourite with the Poldark film crew, does great pasties and Wheal Kitty, a fashionable spot, has the Canteen and is home to the trendy Finisterre clothes store.
The coastline, cliffs and beaches around the village are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site with breath-taking views from the coastal footpaths, perfect for walking with your four-legged companion who is most welcome here!
For those wishing to explore further afield, the Eden Project, the popular seaside resort of St Ives, the shopping city of Truro and the maritime town of Falmouth all make an easy day excursion and are just a short drive away.
Smugglers really is a super cottage and is ideal for families or couples wanting a seaside break where beaches and surf are only a short distance away.
