Zip and linkHidden amongst secluded woodland and set back from the rambling Yealm river, this dreamy cottage is close to the pretty village of Yealmpton in the glorious South Hams, perfect for a couple's romantic retreat or a family getaway surrounded by nature. Days can be spent exploring the many glorious woodland paths surrounding Western Torrs Cottage and whilst walkers occasionally pass by, you are assured of privacy in your exclusive piece of heaven. This enchanting cottage, with the added luxury of a private hot tub, is a place for making magical memories at any time of year.
Beautifully styled and oozing comfort, as soon as you open the front door you will be captivated. Natural light streams through the original arched windows into the open plan ground floor, with a fabulous wood-burner to keep you cosy in the evenings. The super comfy L-shaped sofa is the perfect place for the ultimate relaxation and the fabulous contemporary furnishings give a nod to the owner's design flair. The sleek galley kitchen has everything you will need for creating a holiday feast and is perfectly placed next to the dining-area, ideal for sociable meals. Climb the stairs to the first floor and two beautiful bedrooms await with the bathroom in between. Elegant bedroom one has a comfy king-size bed, luxury bedding and sweet dreams are assured. Bedroom two has a 'zip and link' bed so you can choose to have either twin beds or a super-king, perfect for families looking for flexibility. The fabulous bathroom has a rainfall shower over the bath, ideal for a refreshing shower after a day of adventure and the Velux window adds natural light.
Step outside and walk into a fairy-tale. The surrounding woodland ensures peace and tranquility whether you choose to sunbathe on a sun-lounger or spend the evening star gazing from the fabulous sunken hot tub on the decking. The children will love running around the lawned, fenced garden area but they may also be interested in sitting around the garden table to enjoy a Devon cream tea (cream first, obviously!). A short stroll will take you to the pretty village of Yealmpton, or perhaps you'd rather just sit and relax in your woodland haven. However you spend your days you are assured of a wonderful holiday at Western Torrs Cottage.
The idyllic riverside villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are considered to be two of the most attractive, unspoilt villages in south Devon, and they are just a few miles away. Sitting on opposite banks of the river Yealm you really do experience a slower pace of life here, and of course what better way to enjoy village life than sampling a gin at one of the renowned local pubs!
When it comes to beaches you really are spoilt for choice. With both Mothercombe and Bigbury-on-Sea not far away, family beach days are sorted. Alternatively discover the joy of walking mile upon mile of coastal paths which link all the many beaches and hidden coves together.
Western Torrs Cottage is just ten miles away from the Maritime City of Plymouth with its bustling Barbican area, packed with fabulous waterside eateries, and the fascinating National Marine Aquarium. The iconic Plymouth Hoe and lighthouse have sublime views across the harbour and out to sea, or head in the other direction to Salcombe for a day of exploring the town, crabbing off the harbour wall or building sandcastles on South Sands beach.
