Dating back to the 16th Century, once the celebratory archway to the formal gardens of the Earl, this Grade II Listed gateway has been brought bang into the 21st Century with charming interiors, befitting of any Earl, embracing the botanical theme that accentuates the overall character of the building.
From leisurely holiday breakfasts in the stylish four-poster bed, to morning coffee on the elevated garden platform looking out across the waters of Plymouth Sound, or cosy evenings snuggled up on the sofa, Orangery Lodge promises a truly relaxing escape for wonderful times together.
Located at the bottom entrance of the Park where visitors access the gardens and Orangery Garden Cafe, with views from the sitting-room and garden across the waters of Plymouth Sound, shut the world behind you as you step into this stunning little oasis.
Orangery Lodge is a wonderful historic building , with all of its charm and elegance sprinkled with the necessary mod-cons. Light up the wood-burner and enjoy a wonderful dinner in the beautiful dining-room cooked together in the modern kitchen. After dinner the sitting-room beckons you to unwind perhaps indulging in a good holiday read, catching up on some TV or enjoying the view of the sea. The shower-room on the ground floor is a real step into the 21st Century, super sleek with a stylish shower that will set you up for the day ahead. Ascend the stairs to the sumptuous bedroom and dressing-room, with its contemporary four-poster that is sure to make you linger in bed that little bit longer each morning. Outside, you have your own private courtyard garden, with its unique elevated platform. Sit back and watch the world go by with your bird's eye view across the waters of Plymouth Sound to Drake's Island and the beautiful Royal William Yard.
Set in a truly unspoilt corner of Cornwall if you want to discover more of the area you are in for a treat. The coastal walks along the Rame Peninsula are simply stunning and there are more historic houses and gardens to delight at Anthony and Port Eliot - not to mention a world renowned festival. Wander the narrow streets of the seafront villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with their pretty colour washed cottages and a great choice of places to eat and drink.
