Zip and linkSteeped in history Barton Manor is of great significance to the Isle of Wight’s heritage, situated adjacent to Osborne House and part of the original estate. The grand driveway leading to the Barton Manor Estate sets the scene for simply stunning Barton Manor Lake Cottage and neighbouring property Barton Manor Farmhouse (3580), each with access to over two hundred acres of woodland and a private beach, guests can immerse themselves in this breathtaking setting.
Laid over one floor Barton Manor Lake Cottage is incredibly spacious with two double bedrooms. The main bedroom is very large, with sumptuous soft furnishings and a modern en suite wet-room. The second bedroom, also a good size, has the flexibility to be a double or a twin, with a luxury shower-room adjacent. The beautifully decorated sitting-room, with vaulted ceiling, overlooks the lake and has a wood-burner, with plenty of soft seating this is a great place to relax and cosy around the fire or open the doors to let the sunshine in; a wonderful cottage to stay in all year round.
The farmhouse-style kitchen is equally as spacious, the large central dining-table has plenty of space to enjoy mealtimes all together. There are views from all directions over the surrounding estate and there's so much space for the kids to enjoy and play with the two resident labradors who greet everyone with a wagging tail. There is use of a shared tennis court and an indoor table-tennis table.
The estate is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, you can enjoy hours exploring whilst soaking up the varied wildlife and plantlife. A short walk through the gardens leads down to the private beach, take a picnic and have a dip in this truly idyllic spot. Barton Manor Lake Cottage is a holiday destination to remember.
Close by is the Italianate-style Osborne House, built under the supervision of Prince Albert and makes for a lovely day out. Head across the River Medina and explore the bustling High Street in Cowes which has plenty of independent shops and quality restaurants and pubs, or learn more about the boating history by visiting Cowes Maritime Museum in the middle of the town.
Further afield you will find numerous footpaths and cycle paths that link the towns and villages of the Island, pack a picnic and see where the day takes you. For some quintessential charm visit Godshill or Shanklin Old Village - partake in an afternoon tea at one of the many tea rooms. Military Road offers some of the best views you will find on the Island, if you are looking for some watersports fun, head to Freshwater Bay and end the day with a trip to the Needles.
