Set at the end of a quiet lane in the heart of St Mawes, with wonderful views over the Percuil River, this single-storey cottage is a perfect holiday bolthole. Accessed by a couple of steps, Mimosa is ideal for families and the private parking space outside is a bonus in such a popular village.

The open plan living-room is the heart of the house with a huge picture window looking out towards the water, so sit back and relax with a coffee or glass of wine while watching the activity out on the water. A two minute stroll brings you down to the waterfront with lovely restaurants, cafes and shops to explore and boats offering fishing trips, sunset cruises and regular ferry services to Falmouth.

Mimosa's light, neutral contemporary decor allows the view to take centre stage, and the comfort of the cottage means staying at home and relaxing is a very enjoyable option. The little kitchen-area is small but well-equipped, although with the many dining choices available in St Mawes – from seaside cafes to the finest dining – eating out is a tempting option. The main bedroom has a spacious en suite shower-room, with the twin and single bedrooms sharing the family bathroom (the single room has a 2'6'' single bed, probably best suited to children).

An enclosed terrace is accessed via the single bedroom and shares the same views over the Percuil River. St Mawes is a lovely village to explore, situated at the head of the Roseland peninsula and often enjoying wonderful weather when the rest of the county is cold and wet.

The coastal footpath can be accessed from here by crossing to St Anthony Head, from where it meanders along the coast through pretty villages like Gerrans, Portscatho and Portloe. The Hidden Hut cafe just outside Portscatho is a delight (and offers tasty rewards to enthusiastic walkers!). St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII, is full of history and a great place to explore with budding pirates, and the small fishing fleet guarantees fresh seafood in the village with many of the wonderful local restaurants – The Idle Rocks, Hotel Tresanton and many more – famed for their seafood menus.

Days out in Falmouth are easy via the local ferry, and exploring wonderful Cornish horticulture at The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trelissick, Trebah and Glendurgan will delight keen gardeners, with the Eden Project top of the list for amazing family days out.
