KingHeadford Farm Cottage is on the edge of a rural hamlet, high up in Somerset's Quantock Hills National Landscape. This stunning ancient landscape covers 100 square kilometres of oak woodland, open heath with panoramic views right across the Bristol Channel, deep valleys and a unique stretch of coastline.
For walkers, dog owners and anyone wanting a tranquil, comfortable base to return to after a day out exploring, this attractive and spacious detached stone barn conversion is in just the right location. Short breaks are available right through the year and the pricing has been carefully designed to reflect the seasons, rather than the school holidays. A Thursday arrival/departure day makes it easy for guests to plan a long weekend and to travel when the roads are quieter.
The cottage has a fabulous open plan ground floor with a wood-burner at its heart, plenty of space for dining, a fully equipped kitchen and a shower-room beyond it.
The full height ceiling is celebrated by the mezzanine level, where a lovely bedroom has been created with a king-size sleigh bed.
A baby up to six months old (non-crawler) is welcome.
The back door opens onto a fully enclosed patio, with outside seating and a barbecue. Three adjacent paddocks, including an orchard, have been dedicated for guests to enjoy the sole use of, to sit peacefully with a glass of wine and a book and to exercise dogs in, if you wish to bring your four-legged friends. Whilst the owners are happy to accept several dogs, if you are a guest without a dog the excellent feedback from guests assures of a spotless cottage for your stay.
The cottage is situated next to the owners' farmhouse and there is a shared circular drive, with ample parking for guests right outside the cottage. The working part of the farm is separate, further down the hill through the hamlet.
This area has no end of options for walking and cycling. Try the woodland trails at Adscombe, where you can stop off at the Foxy Bean Cafe - a great 'pit stop' for cyclists.
Set out on a walk to the highest point of the Quantocks, Will's Neck, from just outside West Bagborough or from the National Trust car park at West Quantoxhead. Explore the incredible 'Jurassic' beach at Kilve.
You will find plenty of local information and ideas in the cottage, for outings and places to visit.
