A hop, skip and jump away from the harbour wall, Pender Cottage arguably occupies the best position in Mousehole, one of the prettiest villages in west Cornwall. Watch the boats bob as the tide ebbs and flows, or simply watch the world pass by the front window. And at bedtime, be lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea (much better than counting sheep)!

Relaxing in front of the wood-burning stove in the lovely open plan living-room with a good book is what holidays are made for. This lovely room, simply furnished in relaxing soft, muted tones is perfect for a family gathering or holidaying with a group of friends. The kitchen is sociable enough for the chef not to feel left out whilst preparing and cooking a delicious meal, perhaps some freshly landed local shellfish.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has stupendous views across the harbour to Mount's Bay and there are two further bedrooms, one double and one twin which are both extremely comfortable.

For food lovers, and as you would expect, there are some great restaurants, cafes and pubs to try within easy walking distance and being such a popular destination, there is always a great atmosphere. This really is an ideal base for a memorable Cornish holiday, whatever the time of year.

Explorers will not want to miss a stomp along the South West Coast Path in walking boots, taking in the dramatic sea views either towards Land's End (approximately 13 miles) or the other way towards Marazion (approximately seven miles).

Or, pop back into the car and travel towards Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens near Gulvul to see contemporary artworks interspersed amongst the sup-tropical planting. The municipal Morrab Gardens in Penzance, with its exotic sub-tropical plants, are lovely to walk through during a trip to Penzance where you will also find the much admired Art Deco Jubilee Pool, the largest UK's seawater lido open during the warmer months.

However you spend your days, this wonderful part of Cornwall has much to offer and the only worry will be - do you have enough time?
