10th Aug 2024 to 17th Aug 2024 - The Cottage at Ford Barton Excellent cottage clean, cosy and welcoming which was evident from the moment we walked through the door. The large lounge and the large well equipped kitchen/diner which led you through to the conservatory and garden for relaxing afternoon to sit and enjoy a cup of tea with the welcoming home baked cake left by Sally. We chose this cottage as it has two bedrooms, bathroom with shower and a separate shower room downstairs, this enabled friends to come and join us for a few days. The main bedroom has a beautiful balcony with a bistro table and two chairs and it was lovely to sit there in the morning and take in the breath taking view all around whilst enjoying a morning cup of tea. In the evening a five minute walk to the end of the road is a lovely pub ‘The York Arms’, well worth a visit and excellent food but make sure you book and no one has to worry about driving. There is also a community shop/post office that sells everything. The cottage is very well situated, Taunton has all the shops and food shopping you need and a motor museum (worth a visit), from Taunton you can travel further on to Watchet across and back down over Exmoor National Park for some stunning views. Beer, Seaton and Budleigh Salterton are also worth a visit (Just remember lots of £1 coins for parking). Thank you Sally and John for being perfect hosts, we will definitely be returning. We found peace and tranquility, nature and birdsong at (and I can honestly say this) the very best holiday cottage we’ve ever stayed in. The welcome was warm, the cottage was excellently equipped, it felt cosy and yet was also very spacious, clean and bright. The owners couldn’t have been any more helpful. Simply lovely. It was also in an excellent position for exploring this part of the country. Somerset/Devon and Wiltshire all within reach with beautiful countryside all around. Parking was so easy too. We will definitely be booking this cottage again soon, it was worth every penny. We cannot wait to go back. ...
