Beautiful, well equipped and comfortable cottage

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Should you need any assistance making another booking at Sturhill Stable we are more than happy to help. Sarah, Custtomer Support

We chose this cottage because of the rural location and the separate games room for the children but unfortunately came away a little disappointed. The cottage itself is beautiful - very spacious with extremely comfortable beds and very well equipped. I was never found wanting for anything. We were hoping to have more of a countryside view but there is no view at all, only of the farm buildings. To get a view you have to go up to the top of the tennis court which wasn’t really practical. Visitors also have to note that it is on a farm site so you will be swatting flies all day long. Even with the windows shut they still manage to get in! The owners provide a fly swatter in every room and fly spray etc. The tennis court is a nice extra - you need to take flat tennis shoes and your own rackets. The grass area next to it is big but is away from the cottage so not suitable to release young children there while you sit inside. We had ages 5 and 9 with us. They enjoyed the games room and watched a couple of films on their own TV. It’s in a good location for exploring the area - about a mile from a main road but not audible. Absolutely no phone signal and WiFi package is limited so download films etc that you want to watch before you go. If you’re prone to hot flushes, this isn’t the property for you because they have to leave a radiator on maximum all day (something to do with the plumbing) and it got very hot some evenings. If you want an active holiday going out most of the day this is a lovely cottage and well equipped but if you want to relax a bit more onsite and enjoy a garden and some lovely views, I wouldn’t say this is the right property for that. ...

Thank you for your review. Sturthill Stable is a very rural property located at the heart of a working dairy farm - although there aren't countryside views directly from the property which would be advertised, there are some beautiful countryside walks right on your door step to make the most of. Flies are unfortunately an everyday occurrence for rural farm-based properties and the owners have tried to alleviate any disturbance as far as they possibly can. Unfortunately mobile reception can be a little hit and miss in some rural locations so we'd always recommend checking with your service provider before travel if this is an important element. We've also noted your comments regarding the radiator and we'll certainly get that checked. We're really pleased that you enjoyed the tennis court and games-room and you found the cottage comfortable overall - if you're looking for something a little less rural in the future, please don't hesitate to get in touch and we'd be delighted to help. A lovely, very well equipped and cosy but spacious cottage in which to spend a week although we could quite happily have stayed for longer. It is within easy reach of wonderful walks for us to take our dog to especially Burton Bradstock where we could take hi for a run on the beach followed by a tasty lunch at the Hive Cafe. The countryside around the cottage is beautiful with some amazing views and there are lots of things to do close to it. Although it is in a working farm, we didn't find it intrusive at all....
