East Cowes Cottages
East Cowes sits across the river from Cowes. There’s a chain ferry connecting the two making the trip significantly shorter. The town is fairly residential as most cafes, shops and restaurants tend to favour the high street in Cowes. Right on the river, East Cowes has plenty of wonderful views and walks to take in the beauty of this part of the Isle of Wight.Read more
Plenty of history has grown out of this area, Queen Victoria’s summer home was built on the outskirts of the town and continues to attract visitors here as it did when it opened its doors to visitors in 1904, just after the Queen’s death. Osborne House makes a wonderful day out, English Heritage have done an amazing job keeping the property and it’s grounds (including a private beach) so beautiful. This is a great experience for families, couples and groups of friends, we’d recommend this stately home to all visitors to the island.
Being in the north of the isle makes East Cowes a perfect base for visiting the beaches on the north east coast like Ryde, Seaview, St Helens and Bembridge. It’s also a great spot for exploring Newport and attractions nearby like Carisbrooke Castle, Quay Arts and the Newport Roman Villa.
