If you are looking for a luxury rural retreat for two, surrounded by the most glorious countryside and only a short distance from the renowned naval town of Dartmouth, look no further.

The Shepherds Rest has been designed with the ultimate style, comfort and luxury in mind. Offering two fabulous patio areas to enjoy your magnificent surroundings from, both in total peace and privacy, anyone wishing to really relax and unwind will fall in love with this beautiful abode for two. The Shepherds Rest has been finished to an exceptional standard, offering only the best in furnishings and fittings, ensuring that your stay is enjoyed in total luxury and comfort.

When it comes to really treating yourself, why not bob down to the very popular village of Dittisham for a spot of seafood whilst enjoying the most attractive waterside views, or push on slightly further afield into Dartmouth, where you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to welcoming watering holes and splendid eateries.

To really enjoy the magic of your location, a beach day is a must. Dartmouth is home to two of the most ideal and secluded coves, Castle Cove and the equally stunning Sugary Cove. These coves are the perfect place to treat yourself to an afternoon of relaxation, followed by a treat at the Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms before heading to your next attraction. Alternatively, the pebble beach at Blackpool Sands is a great day out, offering an array of water sports for you to enjoy and a fabulous restaurant and bar for you to enjoy after a day of action and adrenaline, or perhaps just a day of relaxing, soaking up the sun.

Returning back home, snuggle up under a blanket and watch the abundance of wildlife which is just waiting for the sun to go down in order to put on the most magnificent show, you can also indulge in some stargazing in the unpolluted skies, what a great way to end any day.

The drive down the winding track to this beautiful cottage is a treat in itself. Pass the farm animals and enjoy the stunning countryside views en route, which set the scene perfectly for what awaits. The super-friendly owners also live onsite and are on hand at any time to help make your holiday as special as possible. You may also be greeted by their four-legged friends as they go about their day on the farm.

For larger parties, why not book Higher Dinnicombe Cottage (4572) as well and enjoy exploring this gorgeous area with family or friends.

You could spend all day, every day, in this beautiful spot, however there is so much to do and see in and around this glorious part of the South Hams, from exploring the nearby villages and towns to the endless attractions and events, there is never a dull moment.

Another fabulous way to enjoy this very special area is to explore it via rail and sea. You can take the steam train along the estuary to Totnes and get a boat back to Dartmouth, completing the day with a glass of something tasty in one of the friendly Dartmouth establishments. Or perhaps catch the foot ferry which goes from the nearby village of Dittisham over to Greenway, Agatha Christie's former home, another great day out.

When it comes to magnificent historic sights, a trip to Slapton Sands is a must. The historically renowned Slapton Sands, which is famous for its role in the Allied preparations for the D-Day landings, is home to Herman the Sherman tank, one of the most iconic sights for all ages.

Or perhaps a round of golf is just the ticket, if so please make the most of Dartmouth golf course which runs adjacent to the cottage and the Higher Dinnicombe grounds, making this luxury retreat a great choice for golf lovers.

The opportunities and adventures which await you in and around this highly sought-after area are endless. From the beautiful rolling countryside to the breathtaking coast and all the delightful towns and villages in between, holidaying in glorious south Devon will certainly live up to expectations.

In a nutshell, everything you could possibly want from a holiday can be experienced during a stay at The Shepherds Rest - a luxury retreat in a very special location.
