This spacious detached Victorian house is set on a two acre site in the rural village of Colerne, occupying a spectacular position over Box Valley with views of Salisbury Plain in the distance.

Merryfields is the ideal holiday getaway for both families and friends and offers a relaxing country stay in the tranquil Wiltshire countryside. The perfect base for enjoying a visit to the Cotswolds and the popular spa town of Bath which is a just a short drive away.

This inviting family home, which was designed by a musician who was once a drummer for Ozzy Ozbourne, has four bedrooms, one en suite, and a family bathroom. The magnificent folding glass doors on the ground floor allow you to enjoy the outside whilst keeping your indoor comforts and a wonderful space for creating holiday memories.

As you enter the grand pillared doorway you are greeted by a wonderfully eccentric lobby complete with an ornate decorative faux door and impressive Chopper (for decorative purposes only). A hallway leads to a wonderfully social kitchen and dining-area, complete with breakfast-bar and round dining-table…perfect for entertaining larger groups. In the summer months why not open up the sliding glass doors and watch the sun go down as you enjoy your favourite meal.

For those looking to keep their fitness levels up during their stay, a small gym area (used at guests' own risk) is located off the hallway and is equipped with exercise bike and free weights, or the ideal place for a spot of yoga and calm.

For those budding musicians, why not pay a visit to the Music room adjacent to the gym, where you can practice those drumming techniques, or you may prefer to " tickle the ivories",or perhaps you prefer to strum the guitar.

The gym room takes you to an expansive sitting-room which features a wood-burner, under-floor heating and a Smart 65" TV. There is even a full-size table-tennis table to keep you entertained, you really will have all the ingredients for the ultimate, cosy night in. Arguably the main feature of the house is the most spectacular views from the panoramic sliding doors where you can step outside onto the grass, offering a charming dining/seating area inviting you to unwind under the stars. This part of the garden offers a tranquil retreat, It's the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening conversation.

Upstairs there is a substantial family bathroom fitted with shower and separate bath. All four bedrooms are spacious and have three comfortable king-size beds, with one twin bedroom comprising of a double and a single bed, with the principal bedroom having its own en suite shower-room.

The south-facing garden features a blend of patio and lawn, with a gas barbecue (available on request) and multiple outdoor seating areas so you can enjoy the warmer evenings al fresco style, while taking in the breathtaking views overlooking acres of the rolling hills and the valleys of Wiltshire and Somerset.

Located at the bottom of the garden is a private furnished decking area where you can unwind while absorbing the incredible views in peace and tranquility.

Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply want to enjoy the beauty of the English countryside, the Cotswolds is the perfect destination.

Colerne village is nestled in a valley, with the road lined with beautiful gardens, lush greenery, stone walls and hedges, which add to the idyllic atmosphere.

One of the major attractions in Colerne is the beautiful St John the Baptist Church which dates back to the 12th Century.

Colerne Airfield, originally built in 1940 and used by the RAF, is now for recreational activities, primarily gliding. The Fox and Hounds pub offers traditional ales and food. There's also a skate park and Frank's Wood, managed by the Woodland Trust, with mixed native ash, field, maple, oak, birch and other trees and shrubs.

When it comes to places to visit, there is one hotel that stands out; Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa is a luxurious and elegant country house hotel set within 500 acres of parkland and offering a host of activities and facilities. This beautiful estate offers a wealth of options for visitors looking to explore the unique landscapes of the region. Please note that there is a steep drop at the bottom of the garden; do not use the summer-house as the decking can be slippery when wet. This is a very family-friendly area, please be respectful of the neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum. The hot water tank will take two hours to refill after one full bath or four reasonably timed showers. *A cot is not provided, bring your own travel cot.
