This lovingly furnished retreat is the perfect dog-friendly home-from-home for those wishing to enjoy and explore all the charms of Dartmoor. Shipley Lodge is a ground floor apartment, with a secluded exterior space, making this fabulous bolthole the perfect all year-round escape.
Not only does Shipley Lodge offer oodles of 'the great outdoors', which can be enjoyed from your private courtyard area or exploring the extensive grounds which surround you, inside the lodge you are treated to a cleverly crafted open plan living space, making holidaying together or finding your own personal space very easy to do.
With a glorious main bedroom with king-size bed, and a cosy twin room, all generations are catered for. The spacious family bathroom is just across the hallway from the bedrooms, and offers a shower facility and a glorious tub to unwind in. Dining, playing and relaxing together is such a pleasure, as the open plan living design lends itself perfectly. You also have the beauty of the courtyard dining area being accessed from the living space, making it easy to enjoy the great outdoors from the comfort of the sumptuous living-room sofa if you wish, perfect!
Your location and immediate surroundings are also super special. Exploring the magic of Dartmoor is a must, whether it be heading out on one of the numerous woodland paths, trekking across the ancient moors of Dartmoor or simply striking up the barbecue and taking time to breathe in the calm and tranquility of this beautiful spot whilst enjoying a touch of dining al fresco. Whatever you chose, you are in for a delight.
Whether you seek coast or country, Shipley Lodge is perfectly placed to offer both. A pleasurable car journey away you have the south Devon coastline. A day on the beach, or a cream tea in one of the bustling harbourside towns is at your disposal. Villages and towns such as Totnes, Ashburton, Brixham and Dartmouth all await. Along with numerous sandy beaches such as Bigbury-on-Sea, Batham Beach and Thurlestone, along with coves and shingle beaches within Brixham and Dartmouth, the perfect day out for all generations.
In front of Shipley Lodge is the main house, where the owners reside. Your privacy is paramount, however should you need any help or guidance as to how to make the very most of your special surroundings, please don't hesitate to ask.
You can also book Bala Lodge which sleeps a further four guests and is situated directly above Bala Lodge (5502). Why not make this a very special occasion and invite extended family or friends - what a fabulous spot to play, unwind and explore together.
Close by are the super popular towns of Totnes and Ashburton. Totnes which is renowned far and wide for is eclectic mix of shops and boutiques, not forgetting the several museums, art galleries, castle and a steam railway none-the-less. Meandering through Totnes is such a treat, with the weekly market not to be missed, this is when numerous local traders take over the square with stalls and stands, all offering something rather unique.
Or perhaps a trip to Ashburton sounds more like it, the lively historical town of Ashburton nestled on the southern side of the vast Dartmoor National Park is always a hit with all the family. The high street is home to many galleries, book shops and a variety of eateries as well as boasting lots of great antiques shops making it the perfect place to while away a few hours; not forgetting the huge selection of delicatessens, this fabulous town is a foodies' dream.
Never forgetting the true magic which surrounds you, Dartmoor National Park is simply one of a kind. Meandering through the unspoilt terrane enjoying the rather nosey inhabitants and a true local welcome in the numerous watering holes, which you will encounter along any journey, is the perfect way to experience this truly breathtaking environment.
For those who would relish the opportunity to freshwater swim, welcome to the River Avon which is also very nearby. For those who would rather soak up this beautiful river's attraction from a dry location, the wildlife watching is a very special sight along and on the banks of the River Avon. Whichever direction you head out in, there are hot spots and special attractions galore, perfect for all generations.
