Zip and linkWelcome to The Corner House, a charming stone cottage, nestled in the heart of the delightful village of Branscombe, located on the south coast of Devon. Branscombe is an exceptionally popular village, boasting two fabulous Devonshire pubs and a short stroll away from Branscombe beach. This charming abode offers everything you could wish for from a coastal retreat with all delights and warmth of a charming Devon village setting.
This delightful semi-detached cottage is the perfect all year round retreat. You will feel instantly at home in this cosy cottage. Spread over two floors, the ground floor is where you will find the family bathroom and the inviting king-size double bedrooms, one of which has a 'zip and link' king-size bed that can be configured as a twin room on request. Heading upstairs you will be greeted by the open plan living-room with a Juliet balcony opening out into the heart of the village, the perfect way of enjoying that Devon sun until the very last moment.
You may not have any dedicated external space, however with the award-winning Masons Arms pub only moments away and the stunning Branscombe Beach just a short stroll, your external space becomes rather special, especially as the beach has an area that welcomes your four-legged friends, along with the Sea Shanty Beach Cafe serving delicious seafood . For those who seek to truly enjoy this beautiful coastal village location, don your boots, pop the lead on the dog(s) and head off on the National Trust's walking trail which meanders through this historic village. You're guaranteed to enjoy whichever route you embark on.
Just along the coast, the pretty fishing village of Beer is surrounded by limestone cliffs, the wet fish shop on the beach is a great place to pick up the catch of the day and during the summer months water sports and boat trips are available from the shingle beach. Visit Seaton Jurassic, which offers the opportunity to see what the world was like 200 million years ago, with lots of fun activities for children.
Seaton also has a delightful tram that travels inland beside the River Axe estuary, passing through two nature reserves with a wide range of wading birds, all the way to the end of the line in historic Colyton. Further east, just over the border into Dorset, is the bustling town of Lyme Regis, with its fossil history, famous Monmouth Beach, quirky shops and safe sandy beach.
Surrounded by green countryside that borders the coast, there is no shortage of farm shops for delicious holiday treats, locally-reared meat for the barbecue and Devon grown produce. Along the coast to the west are beautiful Budleigh Salterton and regency Sidmouth.
Exmouth is further west still, where you can pick up the Exe Estuary Trail - 26 miles of gentle cycling from Exmouth to Dawlish, close to the water's edge, almost free from traffic and with a boat trip along the way if your legs need a rest. The ancient city of Exeter is well worth a visit with its magnificent Cathedral and vibrant quayside.
Being surrounded by beauty, action and adventure makes The Corner House the perfect year round retreat.
