KingHave you been dreaming of sitting in peaceful countryside, lighting your fire-pit and savouring the smell of woodsmoke whilst watching the sun drift across the evening sky, well wait no longer. Cinnabar Nest, a cosy off-grid eco retreat, imaginatively created, will bring your dreams to life. Set in 200 acres of rolling farmland with views across the fields, Cinnabar Nest is an ideal escape from a hectic lifestyle and your four-legged friend is welcome too. Throw open the door and you will be met by intriguing, handcrafted design. The kitchen-area has a gas two ring hob, a sink fashioned and upcycled from an old tin bucket and free flowing cold water, there is an element of fun in this lovely cabin. If the weather keeps you inside, stoke up the wood-burner, open a book and chill. The double bed is raised up to take advantage of the views, lie in bed, turn off the lights and marvel at the dark sky through the stargazing ceiling. Freshen up in the shower-room with its eco composting toilet, bespoke zinc wash-basin and copper pipes fashioned into a shower with hot and cold water and a cedar shingle wall. The cabin has a charming outdoor space with a wood-fired bathtub for relaxing soaks, and decking which is private and beckons you to rest a while. Cook alfresco over the fire pit or sip a glass of wine and cuddle up under a cosy blanket and watch the sun go down.
The cabin has been carefully thought out by the owner using many upcycled materials including reclaimed wood and metal. The electricity is from the solar panels which cover the lighting and the phone chargers. There is no TV, WiFi or plug sockets - USB ports are available for charging devices. Being so aware of the carbon footprint of the cabin the owner has provided a cool box for your use, with ice packs to use from the communal freezer in the open barn.
Magically located in rolling fields and with wide open views you may decide to spend your time just kicking back and watching the clouds roll by, and when evening comes light the fire pit and stargaze or take a dip in the alfresco bathtub. However, should you wish to explore a little further afield there's plenty of lively places to explore and interesting pastimes to choose from. County Durham boasts lots of stunning sandy beaches along an undisturbed coastline, try Crimdon Dene or Blackhall Rocks. For cyclists and walkers there are scenic loops to challenge you and for those of a less energetic nature there are gentle strolls to be enjoyed. Wild swimming is becoming very popular for wellbeing and connecting with nature, the sea will not disappoint and the water sports lake at Northeast Wake Park are close to Crowdy Hall. The water sports don't stop with swimming, get active with wakeboarding or paddleboarding too. Experience falconry at Durham Falconry or golf at the Knotty Hill Golf centre. The sister farm of Crowdy Hall is Hopper House with an onsite craft beer brewery and private tap room, take a tasting tour and savour 'Gudders Gold' or 'Dark Side of the Moo' or why not order some to be delivered to your cabin. There are pubs and restaurants within a short drive, try the 'Impeccable Pig' in Sedgefield. Quiet and peaceful or fun filled and exciting, you choose, but whatever you do you'll enjoy the best of times in this dreamy part of the country.
There are three other cabins onsite, however they have been positioned in a way that ensures privacy.
