Perfect for a little rest and relaxation but within a short walk of all the hustle and bustle of the prettiest town in the Lake District. With five bedrooms and five bath/shower rooms and plenty of space downstairs to get together with friends and family in beautiful surroundings, The Hollies is your perfect retreat in the stunning Lake District.
Sitting prettily on a quiet side street only minutes from Lake Windemere, you will find The Hollies. Enter through the front door into the imposing hall graced with beautiful original quarry tiles. A large vintage mirror is a lovely addition to the hallway and adds to the designer led ambience of the property. The sitting-room has large squashy sofas, coffee tables and a fantastic square bay window, a collection of stylish magazines are stored in a vintage glass fronted cabinet and other individual touches give this room a style all of its own. a perfect place to gather and relax together. The more formal dining-room leads off the sitting-room, the wood-burner keeps you toasty on cooler evenings. From this room French doors lead out onto the rear courtyard. The kitchen is the real heart of the home with its bottle green AGA and has been designed with style and sophistication in mind. Perfectly equipped for the most enthusiastic of cooks to whip up a feast for family and friends. The gorgeous, large farmhouse table in the dining area seats everyone and looks out onto the courtyard garden. Wander outside to dine al fresco through the french windows, that's what holidays are all about. On the ground floor you will find bedroom one with a view over the courtyard and its own spacious en suite. The shower will refresh you each morning ready to start the next day's adventure.
After a fun filled day make your way upstairs and you will find four very stylish bedrooms, three with en suites and a family bathroom boasting a luxurious corner bath, perfect to soak in after a day walking around the lakes and over the hills. The twin bedroom with a bookcase full of children's books and pretty decoration will delight the younger members of your party. Scrumptious linens, fluffy pillows and duvets and co-ordinated soft furnishings await. The long hallway has an art gallery vibe with black and white photos marking an important representation of a local fair through the decades.
Outside, through one of the three French windows, you will find the lovely private courtyard, equipped with table and chairs. Take a seat and relax with a glass of wine or enjoy al fresco dining as dusk falls.
Located in a quiet street not far from the centre of Windermere and Bowness, there are plenty of activities to choose from. Only a short walk away you can explore the World of Beatrix Potter, finishing with a tasty lunch at the cafe before going out to explore Lake Windermere, the largest of all the lakes. Enjoy the amazing sights either by cruise boats, motor boats, rowing or kayaking, all available to hire nearby. From Ambleside's Waterhead Pier you can take ferry rides to Newby Bridge, Wray Castle, Bowness and the Brockhole Visitor Centre. For a different take on the lakes why not visit Stock Gyll Force - a magnificent 70 foot tall waterfall at the top of the lake. For those who fancy a spot of retail therapy, Windermere and the neighbouring towns and villages, such as Grasmere and Ambleside, have an abundance of individual shops showcasing wonderful local crafts and artisans. If you are feeling more energetic and enjoy a great view then put on those walking boots and head to Brant Fell viewpoint. Further afield Wansfell or Loughrigg Pike are not for the faint-hearted but worth the climb. Restaurants and cafes aboud, there is even a Michelin starred restaurant if you fancy a real treat. Try Grasmere Gingerbread, you won't be dissapointed. One stay will never be enough !
