Manor House is the sort of place that makes you feel special. A place of decorum and distinction, thoughtfully curated with timeless style, in the heart of a rural idyll where peace and serenity abound. It's the stuff holiday dreams are made of.

Dating back over 500 years, Manor House is the central wing of Restormel Manor, a Strawberry Hill Gothic-styled mansion which stands in all its splendour in the lush Cornish countryside of the Fowey Valley, right at the heart of the beautiful Restormel Estate. Extensively refurbished to preserve and enhance its historic character, the house is grand yet the interiors are warm and inviting and make you feel at home from the minute you arrive.

The country-style kitchen is a dream, the room for all to gather, lingering over leisurely holiday breakfasts around the large farmhouse table, and for more formal dining and celebratory meals bring out the best china as the dining-room awaits. This elegant room makes a real statement with its decorative wall sconces, antique furniture, large windows and blue Cole and Son wisteria-patterned wallpaper, you'll want to dine in style most evenings.

After dinner retire to the relaxing sitting-room, where large comfy sofas flank the open fire place, inviting you to enjoy a late night movie, challenge each other to a board game or simply continue the chatter with your favourite night-cap.

When it's time to retire for the evening, select a book from the huge selection provided and make your way up the grand staircase to the four beautiful bedrooms. They offer a real slice of luxury to ensure you have a great night's sleep, with super comfy beds, adorned with luscious linens and vintage bedspreads and the large windows frame the view of your surroundings.

Outside the magic continues with a small terrace leading from the kitchen, perfect for a wake-me-up cuppa and a private enclosed area for al fresco dining under the sun or the stars. The large lawned area at the front of the Manor is perfect for games or a picnic on a sunny afternoon. It's available for all guests of Restormel Manor to enjoy but there's plenty of room for you all to find your own area, or perhaps join together and make new friends.

As if this couldn't get any better, you also have full access to the extensive leisure facilities at Restormel Manor, shared with other guests staying on the Estate. These include an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, children's play area and tennis court - it's a very special place and for those who like to 'cast a line' there is complimentary fishing on the River Fowey at certain times of the year.

Perfectly-placed, there are extensive woodland and countryside walks to discover right from your front door. You can conquer the magical remains of the 13th Century Restormel Castle, that stands on a mound overlooking the Estate, or head up to the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery which offers up a great selection of plants, gifts and not to mention food and drink. It's such a treat, it's sure to become a daily visit!

After a little more adventure? You can walk along the lane to the pretty little town of Lostwithiel, badged the 'antiques capital of Cornwall' with its collection of antique and interior shops, along with cafes, restaurants and pubs.

The sailing town of Fowey is just a short drive away. Known for its beautiful old streets full of independent shops, galleries and great eateries, it's a fabulous place to spend the day.

Nearby you also have the old harbour town of Charlestown with its famous tall ships as well as the National Trust house and gardens at Lanhydrock. For garden lovers, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are a must and if you fancy getting active you can always go kayaking on the River Fowey or enjoy the scenic cycling trails at Cardinham Woods.
