Escape the everyday and treat yourself to a relaxing holiday at this charming barn conversion set in the heart of the Restormel Estate. Nestled in the peace and tranquility of the Cornish countryside, in the idyllic Fowey Valley, it's a wonderful base for exploring all the delights that this beautiful part of Cornwall has to offer. Enjoy countryside and coastal walks, lazy days on the beach, glorious gardens, pretty coastal villages and cycle trails for those who want some fun on two wheels. Closer to home the fabulous leisure facilities will delight. Available for all guests staying on the Estate, with an indoor heated pool, and sauna, children's play area and tennis court - you are in for a treat. And if fishing is your sport, there's complimentary fishing (seasonal) in the River Fowey that weaves its way through the Estate.

Set less than a mile from the little riverside town of Lostwithiel, which offers up a collection of antiques shops, independent shops, pubs and cafes, you can stroll down the lane each morning to collect freshly baked pastries to set you up for the day, or for even more delights take the footpath that leads up to The Duchy Nursery, which not only has a wonderful choice of plants and gifts but serves up some great food and drink, you are sure to become a regular!

One of six cottages, set around a landscaped courtyard, with mature planting for privacy, Hext has been sensitively converted from traditional farm buildings with warm and inviting interiors making this a perfect getaway for couples and small families. Beautiful soft furnishings, antique finds and individual pieces have been married with all the luxuries of modern day living, creating a delightful retreat whatever the season. The open plan living-room sets the scene for sociable living and the two pretty bedrooms ensure you get a good night's sleep. On balmy days your private garden area, set within the courtyard, is a relaxing spot to while away a sunny afternoon, whilst in cooler months the warming wood-burner and cosy rooms offer a blissful escape from the elements.

If you can dare to drag yourself away from your holiday sanctuary, there are so many delights and wonderful days out to discover in the area.

A visit to the mighty biomes of the Eden Project or to The Lost Gardens of Heligan will delight horticulturists and there are more gardens and parkland to discover at Lanhydrock (National Trust) along with the historic house and a network of woodland trails for the cyclists amongst you.

There are further trails to be discovered on foot or two wheels in Cardinham Woods finished off with a tasty treat from the little woodland cafe.

The creekside village of Lerryn is a short drive away. Said to be the inspiration of Kenneth Graham's 'The Wind in the Willows' here you can take the wooded walk along the river which eventually leads to the trendy sailing town of Fowey, another must when in this part of Cornwall.

If you fancy a day at the seaside, you can join the wild swimmers at Menabilly and try water sports at Polkerris but if you would prefer to simply laze away on the beach this stretch of coastline is littered with a choice of great beaches you could try a different one every day!
