TwinThis gorgeous cottage is an absolute gem. Wonderfully welcoming and beautifully decorated throughout, this idyllic and romantic retreat is nestled next to the owner's property in the beautiful village of Upton. Situated near the centre of England on the edge of Sherwood Forest it is ideally placed to visit many wonderful places. The village boasts a great pub serving meals and everything an English village has to offer.
Dressed in relaxed and soothing tones and lovingly furnished to exceptional standards, this charming semi-detached cottage is a stunning holiday home for families, friends and couples. The bright and airy dining-room is perfect for sharing sumptuous holiday meals and holiday experiences before curling up on the sofa in the sitting-room and relaxing, just enjoying time together.
Take the stairs and two dreamy bedrooms await with super comfy beds. Furnished with flair that complements the style of the cottage, the modern wooden floors and exposed beams add to the overall charm and romance. Both the bathroom and shower-room are finished to a fantastic standard to make your stay everything you could dream of.
For a little piece of quiet time, retire to the private courtyard and read a book, or just listen to the birdsong.
Nearby Southwell, with its historic minster which boasts pepper pot towers, has many shops, restaurants and art galleries; perfect for popping out for meals or a leisurely wander through the narrow streets to window shop or indulge in a spot of well-earned retail therapy. Pop into the Museum of Timekeeping and see the watch worn by Captain Scott of the Antarctic, stopping off for a home-made treat at the Clock House cafe. Or you could have a flutter at the nearby racecourse, with its all weather track it is open all year round. In the other direction take a trip to Newark a vibrant market town with the castle on the banks of the River Trent. The town itself was significant in the civil war and houses the National Civil War Centre, an interesting day out where you can try your hand at surgery 17th Century style (interactive!).
At nearby Edwinstow in the heart of Sherwood Forest, visit the Major Oak, Robin Hood's tree, believed to be over 800 years old. Or you could spend your time in Sherwood forest following the activity trails. For the brave try soaring through the trees on the famous Go Ape zip wires.
For a more leisurely time why not find your way to Clumber Park with it's four acre walled garden, majestic lime tree avenue and over 20 miles of tracks and trails to wander on before enjoying lunch in the cafe.
