Super-kingThe Swallows, a fabulous rural retreat awaits. Nestled in the most picturesque countryside, surrounded by the most special sights and sounds mother nature can offer, along with being furnished and finished to an extremely high standard, this lovingly restored barn is such a special holiday retreat.
Teeming with nature, the breathtaking grounds which surround The Swallows are second to none. Hours of joy are to be had relaxing and unwinding within the grounds in the day, and by night, The Swallows takes on an equally magical feel. Wrap up in a rug, pop a bottle of something tasty and prepare to be dazzled by unrivalled and unspoilt night sky views, I'm sure you can spot every galaxy going! However, you're not alone, your friendly field residents will most certainly put in an appearance, from owls swooping by, Mr Fox on his travels, along with deer, hares and rabbits coming out to play, you will really feel at one with nature. Not forgetting the stars of the show, the swallows, who have been nesting here for a number of years and take up residency from late spring until the end of the summer. These glorious birds make for very entertaining neighbours.
In the day, swing open the large bi-fold doors, which deliver you onto your patio-area and garden. Spark up the barbecue or simply sit back and soak up your majestic surroundings, whilst the little ones potter off to explore, or perhaps they will only get as far as the games-room, which holds hours of fun, especially on a damp day.
Retiring to the barn at night is also a real pleasure. This characterful barn is light, airy, and designed with comfort and style in mind, with under-floor heating throughout. The beautiful open plan setting of the living area is set perfectly for those family nights in, whether it be cuddling on the sumptuous sofas in front of the glowing wood-burner, or playing games galore, this superb space is perfect. The extravagant design of the barn means that you have oodles of space, giving your living area a light and airy feel due to the vast array of windows and the super height of the ceilings.
The bedroom configuration has also been designed with the ultimate comfort in mind. Bedrooms one and two have toilet facilities neighbouring the bedrooms, with the mezzanine level bedroom boasting a super-king bed, TV, and the most wonderful views over Dartmoor to wake up to.
If you feel you can tear yourself away from the prettiest of settings, you're surrounded by adventure and activity. For the hikers and ramblers of the group, a trip to the infamous Dartmoor, which is a short car journey away, is a must. Meandering through these glorious moors, rubbing shoulders with the Dartmoor ponies whilst taking in the sights and scenery is such a serene experience, one which should be savoured and re-lived over a spot of lunch in one of the many friendly watering holes which can be found scattered throughout Dartmoor. Castle Drogo is very close by, and very much worth a visit, or strolling around Fernworthy Lake could be just the ticket, you really are spoilt for choice in this superb part of the world.
For those who like to take a walk on the wild side, you can enjoy a wild swim at Fingle Bridge which again is located within stunning Dartmoor.
If you fancy a day on the beach, you have several golden sandy beaches under an hour away. Treating the little ones to a spot of rock-pooling or body boarding at one of the many beaches at your disposal will go down a real treat. You have several sandy beaches and hot spots to choose from, from the very popular beaches at Bude and Widemouth Bay, to the charming and bustling coastal villages of Westward Ho! and Appledore. Not forgetting that under 20 minutes away from The Swallows, you can venture over to Chagford, which is a real Dartmoor jewel. Chagford is a much sought-after and very pretty market town, known for its octagonal Market House (known locally as the Pepper pot) along with beautiful granite buildings, galleries, cafes and restaurants, four pubs and shops including a butcher, two bakers, boutiques and deli's, just another way to spend a glorious day in Devon.
If you wish to give chef the night off, within a mile away you have the Railway Inn, which serves great pub grub, or slightly further afield you have a Tom Cobley Tavern.

Please keep the white net curtains closed in the living area when the patio doors are open to prevent your very friendly local swallows popping in to say hello (between May and September). Likewise, when using the games-room, a swallow or two may swoop in and out. The lane leading up to The Swallows is in places worn. Please drive along the lane with caution if you are not in an SUV.
