Chyventon
5114 is no longer with usIf you were looking for cottages like Chyventon, how about trying these:
Welcome to Chyventon, a charming stone farmhouse with elegant interiors tucked away in a little nook close to the stunning coastline of Falmouth. With four fabulous bedrooms and a wonderful garden to explore, this is a superb place for a family holiday to the Cornish coast.
Open the front door and you'll be greeted by the fantastic kitchen/dining space. The beautifully finished worktops and cabinets provide the perfect spot to whip up hearty brunches and warming suppers, while the large wooden dining-table is ideal for sociable family evenings. If it starts to get a bit chilly, pop on the under-floor heating and enjoy the limestone flagstones beneath your feet. You'll also find a handy utility space to the side of the kitchen as well as a downstairs toilet.
There is also a spacious yet cosy sitting-room with a wonderful wood-burning stove to keep you snug in the winter months which sits in the centre of a gorgeous, exposed granite wall enhanced with mood lighting. The corner sofa is the perfect place to snuggle up with a good film and a warming fire or watch the birds out of the French windows or even enjoy the reading corner with a cup of coffee and a good book.
Venture upstairs and you'll find the three fabulous bedrooms. Wooden floorboards run throughout giving the rooms a wonderful, homely quality while exposed stone walls create a natural, restful atmosphere. The main bedroom has a fantastic super-king size bed and en suite shower-room. The second bedroom houses a king-size double bed while the third bedroom comes equipped with flexible 'zip and link' beds that can be made up as either two singles or a king-size double. A charming family bathroom completes the first floor accommodation with an inviting roll-top bath and shower, perfect for relaxing after a day out on the beach.
Just yards away from the main house, adjacent to the patio, you'll find a stylish contemporary cabin which houses the fourth bedroom, ideal for those looking for a bit of privacy. This has French doors overlooking the garden, a king-size double bed, writing desk and en suite shower-room.
There are plenty of places outside to relax and enjoy the Cornish sunshine. Chyventon's name translates in Cornish to 'house with the spring' as it has a babbling brook meandering along the garden edge. The large garden is tiered on several levels providing some idyllic views (please take care around the stream as this is not fenced off). A south-facing patio with charcoal barbecue provides a superb spot to enjoy al fresco dining, while the rest of the garden is a wild and enchanted space with ancient tree ferns and tropical plants that is brilliant for exploring (at your own risk). Do take care though as there are some drops down to the stream and the upper levels are naturally unmaintained.
