This simply gorgeous contemporary holiday home can be found nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of St Germans, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the south east Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With beautiful interiors and a fabulous terrace you can bask in the Cornish sunshine or stargaze from the hot tub as the day draws to a close; this impressive retreat is the perfect place for extended family holidays or friends looking for a stylish getaway, and all located just a stone's throw from the charming village pub and local shop.
Situated a short distance down a country lane, from the moment you step foot into the pretty wrap-around garden with idyllic stream you will be enchanted. Chy an Dowr is a beautifully refurbished single-story dwelling which will delight from the moment you arrive. Two steps take you into the entrance hall which leads to a gorgeous open plan living area, elegantly furnished with comfort and relaxation in mind. The sitting-room has super comfy sofas where you can chill in front of the wood-burner and enjoy a movie or two. This beautiful bright room has Velux windows and patio doors so natural light abounds throughout the year. The lovely oak dining-table takes pride of place and is next to the chic kitchen so you can gather everyone around the table to plan your day ahead.
The hallway leads to four bedrooms, all beautifully furnished with luxury linens and extremely comfy beds. Lovely bedroom one has a gorgeous king-size bed where you can wake up to birdsong; open the shutters, swing open the patio doors and enjoy the perfect start to the day. The elegant family bathroom has a dreamy roll-top bath for a long soak after a day out and about, and a walk-in shower so you get the best of both worlds. Delightful bedroom two has a single bed and leads to a hideaway mezzanine bedroom with a single bed, the mezzanine is accessed by offset steps on a paddle ladder, ideal for the teenager in the group looking for a quiet space. Please note due to the height and access to the mezzanine level, it is not suitable for children under the age of 8. Further down the hallway, bedroom three awaits with a lovely double bed and the added benefit of a swish en suite shower-room. This room also has double doors to a second outside patio-area surrounded by a well-stocked bed of herbs, flowers and fruit bushes; perfect for a morning cuppa taking in the fresh air. Last but by no means least, bedroom four is another versatile treat, with a small double bed and another hideaway mezzanine level with a single bed which is also accessed by offset steps on a paddle ladder. Again, please note due to the height and access to the mezzanine bedroom, it is not suitable for children under the age of 8.
Outside, the clever owners have thought of everything to ensure your holiday is a dream. From the relaxing sun-loungers, to the fabulous garden furniture for al fresco dining, you will want to spend every waking moment outdoors. The garden is bursting with life and a considerable amount of time and effort has been dedicated to ensuring it is well-stocked with flowers and fruit trees for year-round interest. However, do be aware that there are some spots that dogs are able to scurry through and escape the garden. In the evenings light up the barbecue, pour everyone a glass of something sparkly, sit back and relax amongst the wildflowers whilst the children play. On summer evenings as the sun sets, the garden is festooned with pretty lights; a magical picture at the end of the day.
Being situated in a quaint village, parking is recommended for a maximum of two cars at the top of Mill Lane, approximately 20 yards away from Chy an Dowr. Please do not attempt to drive down the small lane leading to the property as it is extremely narrow and will not accommodate cars.
The pretty village of St Germans sits on the River Tiddy, part of the picturesque estuary of the Lynher. Nestled on the boundary between Devon and Cornwall, the Tamar Valley boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in Cornwall and is justifiably proud of the title Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visit Port Elliot Estate, a fabulous house and gardens which adjoins St Germans, or perhaps you'd prefer to take in the stunning scenery from the coast path, only four miles away. The area is famed for its mining heritage and the remains of over 100 copper mines can be found in the nearby World Heritage site. Both walkers and cyclists will enjoy exploring the many miles of footpaths and bridleways.
Fans of the BBC's 'Beyond Paradise' will be delighted to find 'The Stables', which stars as the 'Ten Mile Cafe', hidden at the end of the lane 300m from the house. Port Eliot, which also makes an appearance in the series is a further 300m away and the nearby town of Looe is the stunning 'Shipton Abbott'.
The maritime city of Plymouth is a short car journey away over the majestic Tamar Bridge. Spend time on the Hoe, with wonderful seascapes and a great outdoor pool for everyone to enjoy or perhaps The Barbican which has a great selection of boutiques, waterside cafes and restaurants.
Dartmoor is perfect for those looking for time in the great outdoors and with miles of trails you can enjoy beautiful scenery here at any time of year. No holiday would be complete without a day by the seaside! The pretty village of Portwrinkle has a fabulous beach, or perhaps the twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand, great for rock pooling and generally messing about on the water. However you plan to spend your holiday time you are guaranteed to make some great memories with a getaway at Chy an Dowr.
St Germans is blessed to have its own railway station with direct trains from London Paddington and other mainline stations. Why not take the train for a day trip to some local gems on your stay?
