SingleFound in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (now known as National Lanscapes) is the charming Orchard Cottage. Set in the grounds of an old orchard and on the edge of the delightful village of Mawnan Smith near the mouth of the Helford River, there is so much to discover from this fantastic location.
Orchard Cottage welcomes you with a large open plan living space, with high ceilings and exposed beams this is a great space to spend time together in. The farmhouse-style kitchen is well-equipped and is a sociable space to spend time, serving up a tasty meal for your family or friends. The large dining-table is the perfect spot to plan the day's adventure or chat long into the night reminiscing together. The comfy sitting-area has the most fabulous fireplace with a large wood-burner for those cosy nights together watching the flickering flames.
There is plenty of space for six guests with four lovely bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed with scenic views over the fields and its own en suite shower-room. There are two single bedrooms and a twin bedroom sharing the large family bathroom, making this perfect for a family holiday or a group of friends.
Orchard Cottage has plenty of outside space; a sloped deck leads up to the raised decking area and your front door. The decking area has lovely scenic views over farmland and follow the gap in the hydrangeas to the children's play area with a swing set shared by Bramley Cottage (4884), the neighbouring cottage, or perhaps plan a romantic picnic for two in the field which you also have use of.
If you like walking, there are many footpaths to explore from your front door. The sandy beach of Maenporth can be reached by a footpath through pretty fields and ancient woodland, where there is a forty minute walk through pretty fields and ancient woodland, where there is a beach cafe and Cove Restaurant & Bar run by Michael Caines. The South West Coast Path is within easy reach and you can find hidden coves and tranquil inlets on your adventures. The sub-tropical gardens of Glendurgan and Trebah are within a five minute drive and are simply stunning.
The nearby maritime town of Falmouth is worth a visit, with a range of independent boutique shops and restaurants and the National Maritime Museum. Why not catch the ferry from Helford Passage to Helford Village and explore the picturesque south Helford. If you fancy an adventure on the sea there are a number of boat trips on offer from Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth.
