SingleA perfectly positioned 17th Century upside-down barn that has been sympathetically and beautifully restored. You can immerse yourself in nature's wonderful glade with the backdrop of the grounds and garden of the owners nearby 16th Century farmhouse, should you need assistance. Positioned on the edge of Yelverton you're at the foot of Dartmoor National Park, a stone's throw from the golf course and a short car journey to the historic market town of Tavistock; if you prefer two wheels, at the end of the lane you hit miles upon miles of the famous Drake's cycle paths. This barn not only offers a wonderful location but an adventure and activity for every day of your holiday.
The barn has been furnished and decorated with your comfort in mind whilst working with the original features and updating with fully fitted hand-carved kitchen units and that all important wood-burner for those chillier days and nights and those out of season breaks. The main living space is light and airy with wonderful vaulted ceilings. One of the main features must be the wonderful double doors, one with balustrades that takes in views across the gardens and the other one opening onto the patio/decked area with lovely views of the woods. The barn offers privacy and a bubble of tranquility.
From the living area a flight of stairs leads up to the galleried bedroom/games-room with a single bed, making a perfect hang out area for the younger ones or an evening of competitive fun around the table-football for all the family to enjoy.
Although the barn is situated in the owners' grounds, you have your own separate access and parking with a gravelled path that leads you up to the front door of the barn. Being gravelled this can be uneven underfoot and there are several steps to negotiate both up and down as you walk through the entrance garden. On arrival you might be greeted by the friendly free range hens that roam free in the garden as well as the owners beloved dog.
Being so close to Yelverton means you can enjoy the benefits of a local village offering shops, a Post Office, butcher and that all important pub for the Sunday roast. The barn offers a wonderful base to explore from on foot as well as by bike with the historic maritime city of Plymouth being 13 miles away along the Drake's trail. If you bring your own bikes there is a secure lock up area, please speak with the owner prior to arrival if you would like to use this facility. Alternatively there is bike hire is available in the village.
A planned day out has to be a visit to Tavistock which is a traditional market town offering a weekly market and a collection of high street and independent boutique shops; an ideal way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. If you're looking to step back in time and enjoy a National Trust property, then Buckland Abbey is on your doorstep and makes for a perfect family outing for one and all.
Further afield you have the joys of the coast with miles upon miles of coastal paths to walk with numerous beaches for you to enjoy either building sandcastles or a blustery autumn walk. Portwrinkle being a firm favourite but in truth you will be spoilt for choice.
