KingGiles Cottage is an exceptionally attractive detached cottage, set within the stunning grounds of Wringworthy Farm. Staying in this beautiful Grade II Listed cottage you are guaranteed to feel a warm welcome with many original features being the perfect back drop to the comfortable decor and furnishings. Extensive grounds surround the cottage offering endless opportunities for activity, for both you and your dog.
Lovingly and tastefully furnished, Giles Cottage is perfect for those family nights in. From banqueting like royalty at the dining-room table, to snuggling up in the spacious sitting-room in front of the wood-burner, Giles Cottage is a really special home-from-home. The large kitchen with its huge slate flag floor (with under-floor heating of course) is great for cooking up a storm using fabulous fresh local ingredients. There are two large en suite bedrooms and an additional annexe offering extra peace and tranquility for two members of the party. The annexe is accessed externally, however a 10 yard walk and you are back within the main house.
Giles Cottage is set in grounds which are nothing short of stunning. From the beautiful sight and sound of the river which borders the meadow in front of the cottage, to the spectacular old railway tunnel and the peaceful rural views, tranquility and splendour are easily sought in this perfect spot.
For those more active members of the group, there is a trampoline and a pair of goal posts for you to use, as well as direct access to a cycle path and a river to play in. If croquet, badminton, table-tennis or cricket are more your thing, just ask the owners who will provide what's needed. Another favourite pastime will be heading up to the communal games area offering table football and table-tennis - perfect for a bit of competitive family fun!
Set in 75 acres of farmland with sheep grazing and links to public footpaths leading to local villages and on to the moor, your dog will love it here. There are some splendid walks along the River Burn and even a secret pool where you can paddle on summer days (do take care with children by the water). For the spectators, and those who prefer to enjoy their surroundings sitting still, there are well positioned benches along the river bank as well as a table and chairs on your own private patio.
Should you wish to venture further afield, you are ideally located to access the surrounding towns, villages and attractions within a short drive. If you need any tips or guidance on a recommended day out, the owners of the property live on site, and will be more than happy to suggest some family favourites, all adding to the holiday experience at Giles Cottage.
In the same family for 150 years, Grade II Listed Wringworthy Farm, mentioned in the Domesday Book, is set in a gorgeous spot in Dartmoor National Park. Dating back to the early 1500s, it was once the home of Sir Francis Drake's great niece, Elizabeth Drake, who lived there in the 17th Century with her husband, the local squire William Cake.
Giles Cottage, Lena Cottage (3292) and Ida Cottage (3293) are all beautiful cottages named after family members.
