Mount View Horizon Safari Tent is the perfect family retreat, set high above Mounts Bay in a spacious meadow with incredible 180 degree panoramic views. As far away from basic as it could possibly be, the accommodation comprises of a fully equipped kitchen with all of the essentials as well as a wood-fired range and fridge/small freezer.

The sleeping arrangements consist of a delightful double cabin bed, complete with shutters for privacy, and two pretty bedrooms at the back of the tent, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. The retreat also comes with wifi to help plan those days adventures. The wood-fired range and addition of electric heaters in both bedrooms ensure cosiness whatever the time of year. There is of course the luxurious bonus of an en suite shower-room and separate cloakroom with flushing toilet, heated towel rail and hot and cold running water – yes, you really are glamping!

The raised deck (complete with your very own hot tub and not one but two hammocks!) provides the ideal space to sit back, relax, take in the fresh air and enjoy the spectacular view. This gorgeous tent is the furthest away of the three retreats here (the other two being Mount View Sunrise and Mount View Retreat) and there is plenty of space for the kids to run around and play – you are welcome to bring your four-legged friend along too. An onsite sauna sits at the top of the field, allowing you to really relax into your stay. One-hour sessions are bookable through the owner at an additional cost and a fabulous plunge barrel is on hand to cool you down after your steam.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from this amazing retreat, there is plenty to see and do nearby. Close to home, the White Hart, a traditional Cornish pub, is only half a mile away, ideal if you don't feel like cooking – you are on holiday after all! Or, if you fancy some fresh air, the 'St Michael's Way' footpath is just a stone's throw away, reached through beautiful fields, running to St Ives in one direction and Penzance in the other.

Also, a ten minute walk away are the wonderful Sculpture Gardens at Tremenheere, complete with lovely on-site cafe. Visiting the magnificent St Michael's Mount is a must and you can spend some time on Marazion beach while you're there too – it's even dog-friendly out-of-season. The delightful fishing village of Mousehole, the charming town of St Ives and the lively town of Penzance are all a short drive away and definitely worth a visit.

If you want to give surfing a go, the well-known beaches at Sennen Cove, Gwithian and Porthcurno are all close by too. Why not go and see a performance at the famous Minack Theatre or, if you're looking for a day out, a ferry runs from Penzance to the idyllic Isles of Scilly.

If you really can't bear to leave, how about toasting some marshmallows on the fire-pit barbecue or making the most of the large meadow, complete with play-area tucked away at the top, including a trampoline, swing, climbing frame, slide, football goal and badminton/volleyball net, and having some fun in the fresh air?

The on-site honesty-shop, complete with washing machine, is well-stocked with seasonal products and everyday essentials, so you don't even need to get back in the car if you don't want to. The private parking-area is just 50 yards away and there will be a wheelbarrow at your disposal on arrival, so you can transport your luggage with ease.

Mount View Horizon Safari Tent really does provide the perfect opportunity for a good old-fashioned family holiday, where you can switch off from everyday life and reconnect with each other.
