Perched high above the harbour in bustling Newlyn, Number 4 enjoys uninterrupted sea views across Mount’s Bay. This terraced fisherman’s cottage is accessed along a pedestrian lane just a short walk from the main street – well worth it just for the comfort of this stylish retreat, let alone its fabulous sea views!

Recycled oak floors and a wood-burner add charm and character, while the modern kitchen gives access to a small enclosed terrace. The first floor double bedroom has a comfortable, six foot bed; the twin bedroom and bathroom are also on this floor. Steep stairs lead up to the spacious second floor double bedroom, its desk placed at the large window offering yet more stunning sea views.

To this very day, Newlyn remains home to one of the biggest fishing fleets in the UK and as such, gives a unique insight into a proper Cornish fishing port. You can buy fish and seafood straight from the boats, or from one of the many fishmongers along the streets.

Among all the pretty towns and villages of west Cornwall, Newlyn feels the most authentic and is a fantastic place to visit at any time of year, helped by some rather fabulous eateries including Mackerel Sky, a laid-back wine bar serving the most delicious fish dishes, the Tolcarne Inn with its Michelin starred chef and the amazing cinema 'The Newlyn Filmhouse'. Created from an old fish merchants store, you could be forgiven for thinking you're in a city, with the fantastic bar and gorgeous eclectic interiors.

The charming and quaint village of Mousehole is within walking distance, a mere mile and a half away and is a stunning walk along the coastal road with gorgeous views. There are regular buses from Mousehole to Penzance too if you fancy hopping on and letting someone else drive while you take in those glorious views.

Many famous artists have taken inspiration from Newlyn, and art lovers should visit the Newlyn Art Gallery, enjoy a leisurely mooch around the gallery followed by a delicious Cornish cream tea in the cafe afterwards overlooking Newlyn green.

Around this area there are many wonderful walks directly from Newlyn. The coastal path to Lamorna is one of the prettiest you will find anywhere in Cornwall. There is also a good bus service from the town which can help you explore the area as well. The open top bus is a fun experience from Newlyn taking you all around the peninsula.

If you can, try and take in a trip to the world famous Minack Theatre, dramatically perched on the cliffs above Porthcurno, it's well worth a visit and even more magical if you can see a production or concert whilst there, but don't forget to take a warm snuggly blanket as it can get very chilly.
